Can I send money from my PayPal balance?

I was recently refunded money from a merchant for a previous purchase, and this money is still in my PayPal account. Now I want to send some money to a friend, but when I do so, PayPal asks which of my bank accounts I want to send it from (which of course entails another fee). Is there a way to use the money that is already in my PayPal account?

Click on the profile tab (icon next to log out) > Click on payments third option along on the thick blue band top of page > second down click on update next to your prefered way to pay and put a dot in one of the options listed.

Could you break this down more:

Click on the profile tab (icon next to log out)--OK, did that, clicked on the icon that looks like a gear.

> second down click on update next to your prefered way to pay--no "update" appears on that page. Only the two bank accounts I have listed

and put a dot in one of the options listed.
