I need to have confirmation pop up after payment is made, how do I do that?

I would like after the customer makes a payment for a confirmation page to pop up, how do I get that to happen? Right now after the payment it takes them back to the payment screen without clearing any information (name, inv, amount) and can cause confusion, it looks like nothing happened.

I would like it to pop up a confirmation page or code something to signify whether the payment went through or not. 

would I need to add this to the Paypal button code?

You can add a return url in the Customize Advanced Features section. See numbers 5 & 6 in that section and the Note under 6 about implementing Payment Data Transfer to achieve your desired effect.
