I have a simple site for a rental.
I need a form to collect info and accept a deposit.
How can I add custom fields to a PayPal button to collect the following:
1. Name
2. Address
3. Phone
4. Email
5 Start Date ( preferably with date pickers )
6. End Date
7. Number of people
The new unimproved PayPal site continues to become more and more confusing to use.

Good day @paulckruger,
Thank you for posting to the PayPal community.
Yes, PayPal Website Payments Standard (WPS) is a legacy integration. Merchants can pass the HTML Variables for PayPal Payments Standard buttons as mentioned in below guide link.
View sample HTML code that shows various payment features and options for each PayPal payment button.
Use the following samples as a starting point to create your own HTML payment button code:
We recommend merchants to integrate our latest PayPal Checkout (Smart button) product soon.
Guide link : https://developer.paypal.com/docs/checkout/standard/
Please follow the below steps via your PayPal account.
Login PayPal.com >> click on "settings icon" >> go to "Account settings" >> Website payments >> PayPal buttons >> select button type >> fill all the required details.
(Or)
Login PayPal.com >> go to direct link "https://www.paypal.com/buttons/" >> follow the above steps
If your still facing any issues, please create a MTS ticket via - https://www.paypal-support.com/s/?language=en_US with the detail information and error details.
Sincerely,
Chiranjeevi

Hello Chiranjeevi,
I am happy to see a PayPal employee with a reply to the problem with the PayPal Buy Now-button that I have.
I know that Buy Now buttons are deprecated.
I know about all the documentation that you mention, and I have applied every detail of it.
It has been working fine for many years, but last month the button did not work any more as before:
No details any more in the payment confirmation e-mail; no push notification of the payment in the PayPal app any more.
And yes, I have created a MTS ticket with all the details, which they could not solve.
Please have a look at the link below, with the reported problem in the MTS Community where I explained the situation and posted an (ugly) workaround that at least keeps me "alive".
Thanks for your reply in advance,
LvdBos (IChingOnline)

I actually found a much MUCH easier solution. I created a Stripe account which has an easy form builder to take payments.
I have used PayPal from day one. 28 years as web developer and PP has consistently become more confusing and harder to navigate over time. They have decided to fix things that were not broken. I believe not a single one of the PP developers ever actually have to use their own products as if a consumer.
