I got an email "Notification of an Instant Payment"  "from" PayPal.  It has non working links AND the address is <removed>

 

Someone is trying to hose me, right?

If the funds are NOT in your paypal balance then yes a fake paypal email.

Yep.  pretty much the conclusion I came to.

When the party started to get anxious I told them I was waiting for PayPal

to confirm my suspicions that they were trying to rip me off.

Haven't heard a peep out of them since.

Help! Same thing happened to me yesterday!  They texted me from an Ebay item I had on sale and asked if they could send me an extra $300 to buy, on my own, a STEAM gift card and include it with the items and send them all to her cousin!!! Ebay told me what to do, but they have my PayPal info now.  Can they do anything with that? I changed my password.  Also, It shows I have $200 "waiting" for me and do I want to accept the money.  I can't figure out how to see who sent the money. If I click the accept button, will that allow me to see if it's legit?
