Hello @Carrie40 ,

Welcome to the PayPal Community.

I'd do a thorough Google search and look up the reviews for this company to understand if you can trust them. I usually find that if there's a bad gut feeling then it's there for a reason - particularly if the price is too good to be true. 🙂

PayPal is offered by many thousands of merchants so PayPal doesn't have the capacity to check their authenticity upfront. If the merchant offers PayPal though you have baseline protection through PayPal's Buyer Protection. Here's some more information: https://www.paypal.com/uk/smarthelp/article/what-is-paypal-buyer-protection-faq1269

A few call outs:

  • It's important that you send the money for goods/items. If a seller is requesting a friends/family payment you won't be protected.
  • If you don't receive your item, PayPal will ask the seller for a tracking number that proves the item has been sent to your address.
  • If you receive an item that is "not as described," PayPal may ask your for additional information. At the end of the process, you'll also be asked to ship the item back to the seller with tracking number which may incur costs. I have seen examples where people had ordered items that were significantly not as described for a relatively low transaction amount just to find out that returning the item with tracked shipping would be as much or more than sending it back.

I hope you are finding a great present for your daughter and all works out.
