Possible fraud - help needed!

I have been communicating with someone re. sale of goods and send a payment request from my paypal account. This is still pending in my account. I have since had 2 emails from paypal, indicating that the person has sent payment but it's in a paypal 'escrow' account and I need to approve payment via a link. This email says its from the normal paypal service email but it's actually from another email address called actpaylink.
I'm pretty certain this is a fraudulent attempt, but not sure how I check this with paypal - or do I not bother and cut off communication?
I've deleted these emails and not clicked on any links.
