Hi, I recently sold something on gum tree. When it came to paying the buyer asked for my paypal email and then a second email to confirm payment. I don't understand as the email that the payment email was sent to isn't connected to my paypal. When I logged on to my paypal app, I couldn't see any payments pending. I'm just wondering whether this is genuine. Thank you.

Scam. Ignore and move on. Since you are seller, you ask for buyer's PayPal email address so you can send PayPal Invoice for payment. Buyer has no need for your email addresses, especially let alone a second one but to scam. They will have your PayPal email address already when they actually pay through your PayPal invoice and from their payment receipt from their PayPal account.
Gumtree has documentation on how the payment process works, stick to it to lower the chances of scams:
How do I send and receive payments with PayPal through Gumtree?
When you give out your email addresses before payment, the other party can send you fake emails to get info or send you fake PayPal emails asking for payments, etc. People out here are pretty brazen.
Kudos & Solved are greatly appreciated. 🙂
