I don't know what to make of this. I received an email from a vendor from whom I was making a purchase telling me that they'd generated a
PayPal invoice...and sure enough, it promptly arrives in my email inbox.
So rather than clicking on the link in the email itself I go to PayPal, log in, and the invoice is not there. However, at the *exact* same time, to the minute, that that my anticipated invoice was supposed to have been created, an entirely different invoice showed up.
I don't get PayPal invoices like, ever. So this is a very odd coincidence that one invoice wouldn't show up and a different, fraudulent one would show up in its place.
In my PayPal dashboard, the unexpected/fraudulent invoice is from a name that I cannot put here because it isn't English alphabet and I couldn't submit my question with it...not an allowable character....in the amount of $62. I click through and it claims to be a GoDaddy invoice for a domain which I do NOT own. The domain does, however, belong to a former client of mine.
To be clear, I didn't get an email from the fraudulent invoice...I got a legit email with the invoice from a business to whom I owe money.
However, in my PayPal dashboard? That legit invoice does NOT exist and instead it has been REPLACED by the fraudulent one.
