If I have a sole proprietorship (i.e., no legal entity) can i still open a business account? When I click into changing to a business account it asks for the exact legal name of the company so that articles ofd incorp etc can be attached. But as I started - there is no legal entity as it is a sole proprietorship. But I would still like this sole proprietorship to have a business paypal. Any thoughts? Thanks!

Hi @WalterATST,
Thank you for your post and welcome to the Community Forum!
In general, you can have a business account even if you have a sole proprietorship or if you are simply an individual selling online. You do not need to have a registered business to create a Business account. When you upgrade the account, you should have the option to choose your business type and in that field, please choose 'Sole proprietorship' or 'Sole trader'. Regarding the name, you can add your business name that will be showing in the PayPal statement of your buyers.
I hope this helps!
Martina
