Breakdown of charges for receiving

I received a payment for $144 from the US to my UK Paypal account. The total fees for the transaction was $6.64. Where can I get a complete breakdown of this fee? I can't see an option to break it down anywhere.

I understand there is a 3.4% + $0.30 charge but this does not add up. Am I missing something? Could this example be broken down for me so I can calculate exactly how it comes to $6.64?

Thanks

Matt

(p.s. please don't refer me to the paypal charges page, I have read this and still cannot get to this value)

Well I am not going to do your maths for you so all I will say is that the 3.4% + 20p is for UK > UK transactions.

If its an international payment then the fees are higher dependent on what country you are trading with.

I wish Paypal would simply give the option display a breakdown of the charges. Nevermind, I found a much better alternative to Paypal which charges much less and also won't charge a further charge for transferring USD to my UK bank account too. 👍

Thanks for your contribution to the thread though

Your welcome.

Lots of other options, some better for just sending funds.

But for payment for sales I think Paypal is best ONLY because its the payment method that more buyers seem to have and more buyers seem to use.

Well after a little research, it didn’t take long to find alternative methods that are now widely used and WAY cheaper than Paypal’s Receiving charges. Paypal cannot compete with the likes of TransferWise unless they drastically reduce their cross-border and exchange fees.

As i said that may be true if BUYERS use that option.

But as a buyer myself I tend to only use sellers that offer Paypal as I like the extra buyer protection that you get.

As a seller I want buyers so that is why I offer Paypal.

But good luck with your other options, hope it works out for you.

Paypal is not for everyone.
