My bank is starting to pile hefty fees onto my accounts, so I am working on consolidating accounts. Years ago I established a Chase account dedicated to my PayPal account. Now I would like to get rid of that Chase account and attach PayPal to my main Chase account. Of course, PayPal does not allow adding accounts within the same bank. How can I get this done?

Welcome to the boards!
Within PayPal, Verified members can add up to eight banks - there is not an exclusion as to adding multiple accounts from the same bank, as long as they have separate account numbers (routing number can remain the same).
Hope this helps,
Adrian
