Pending payment - no option to cancel

I tried to make a payment of £4.99 to Vue cinema a few days ago but it failed half way through. I left it a while and got no confirmation email from either vue or PayPal so tried again. It went through fine. Then I checked my online banking the next day to see 2 pending payments. 1 has now gone through fully but the other still says pending. I contacted Vue via Twitter who say it's a PayPal error and that they need to sort it yet everything I've read here says Vue need to cancel it - what can I do??

Is it pending on your paypal account or bank account?

It's not a PayPal error, that's how most online integrated checkout merchant/goods and services transactions are processed with or without PayPal involved, as temporary or pending authorizations and the funds are held until the authorization expires (typically no longer than 30 days) and the funds released or merchant processes/captures your payment. So keep an eye on that pending transaction, it will eventually disappear if the merchant does not or can't capture the payment for whatever reason. Of course, if you see the first transaction eventually going through, you can dispute it as duplicate transaction on PayPal (if you see it in your paypal activity) or with your financial institution.

Hi it's pending in my bank account too! I know it's not Paypals fault but I'm unsure what else I can say to Vue. Luckily it's not very much money so I'll just wait and see for the time being!
