How do I withdraw money in USD instead of my local currency?

I have a VISA card in US Dollars currency. And I've been withdrawing money to it for ears (US Dollars). But now when I try to withdraw money, PayPal automatically makes currency conversion into my national currency. But my card is not in my local currency, it's US Dollars card. So I don't need this double conversion where I loose a lot of money. I just need it to be as it was before. Support is not helping, they told me to call them. So I called to speak with a robot that says - click next next next and press "withdraw". But I DO NOT want to withdraw it in my local currency. Does anyone have a solution for this problem?

"5.1 How to Withdraw Money.

Depending on the country/region in which your Account is registered, you may withdraw funds from your Account in any of these methods:

(a) by electronically transferring them to your U.S. bank account or to your local bank account,

(b) by electronically transferring them to your card where available,

(c) through a PayPal initiated Automatic Transfer to your linked financial instrument, or

(d) by requesting a physical check through the mail.

In certain countries, your ability to withdraw to a local bank account may require the use of PayPal Retiros. Different currency rules may apply to PayPal Retiros. Please see terms and conditions for additional information regarding the service.

Depending on the country/region in which your Account is registered, the currencies in which you may withdraw your funds to your local bank account may be limited.

With the exception of Users with Accounts registered in the People’s Republic of China or unless otherwise specified, when withdrawing your funds to your local bank account, funds may only be withdrawn in your local currency.

If you are holding a balance in U.S. Dollar, you may be able to withdraw the funds to your linked U.S. bank account or card where available.

If you are holding a balance in a foreign currency, you may only withdraw that balance (or part thereof) after it has been converted to

(a) the local currency if you are withdrawing your funds to your local bank account or card where available

(b) U.S. Dollar if you are withdrawing your funds to your linked U.S. bank account or card where available.

Depending on the country/region in which your Account is registered, you may be able to withdraw your funds through a third party service provider. Please see terms of such third party for information regarding currency conversions."

Seems like the policy has changed on withdrawals to cards then because PayPal always convert to local currency for withdrawals to local bank accounts regardless if the bank account holds the currency or not. You can only withdraw in USD currency if the bank account or card is US based/issued.

Now if you were making purchases with the card, you can tell PayPal what currency to use by contacting customer service. In any case, you'll need to contact customer service and speak to an agent about this:

Log on, click HELP on top menu, scroll down to click CONTACT US, and then scroll down to click CALL US.

Or contact via social media:

Twitter: @AskPayPal

Kudos & Solved are greatly appreciated. 🙂

For us to make changes successfully on the currency for your payments, we will need an additional verification process with you over the phone.

Kindly give us a call at[Removed. Phone #s not permitted]/strong>

That's what they told me. I've been withdrawing money for years on that Visa card, and it seems that it's still possible, they have a solution. I called that number - and there was only that robot that keeps saying "to withdraw the money - press withdraw button". And I just can't speak to a real person.

Hi @Vlad_Vlad

I'm sorry to hear that you're unable to get through to a live person. It sounds like the automated attendant is keying in on the word "withdraw" when you're responding. Please try saying currency and see if that gets you through the right channel. If not, there are a few other options for contact.

To contact customer service, please click Contact at the bottom of the PayPal website for available options, or reach out by PM on Facebook or DM on Twitter.

I hope this helps!

Olivia
