money is on hold

I'm not selling any products. I'm a freelancer and my payment is being transfer via PayPal. However my money is on hold. I don't know what's going on. i don't even have the tracking info. The services were done for the client. What should I do?

Hey @LeighBasco,

Are you a new seller with PayPal? If so, it sounds like you may be encountering a New Seller hold. Even if you're selling services or something digital, the payment will be placed on hold pending a proof of delivery. You can use this link to find more information on holds and how to have them released early.

Hi, I'm also a freelancer. I just started my job mid-October of this year, and my boss pays promptly. The first was successful, amounting to 3000Php something. And that was also my first ever transaction in PayPal. The next pay is more than 5k Php for my 2-week service. And until now it's pending. That was sent October 21st. What will I do? I will be receiving another 2-week pay within this week. Will it be pending again? Oh my! How will I survive? It's just a very small amount for many but for me who just depends on a part-time job it's my bread and butter. Please release my money!!!!

It sounds like a temporary hold was placed on your payment. If there aren't any issues with your transaction, such as a customer filing a dispute, the payment will move to your available balance with 21 days of receipt.

Hi, so how many times Paypal will put my money on hold? Now I'm planning to let my boss send it to my friend's PayPal account because I'm afraid I can't get it right away.

I have the same problem as the author of the topic. The question arose: How often will my money be blocked like this? Does this happen only once or regularly? Should I think about negotiating with customers and switching to other payment systems?
For a freelancer, this money is their bread. Waiting 21 days for my money is almost a month to live hungry.

You may want to check with the sender how the money was sent. Only goods and services payment are put on hold. Personal payment sent as friends and family are not. There are several reasons why a money sent as goods and services to a person will be put on hold. Check below article for further details. Instead of waiting 21 days of hold, ask the person who sent you the money to Confirm Receipt of the item, just follow the steps provided in the article below. Once the buyer is done confirming the receipt the balance will be release automatically as your PayPal Balance.

I've received a personal payment and that is on hold too...Disappointing, frustrating and time consuming (time is money).
