Cannot withdraw funds as no Routing Number available in South Africa

Hi,

I have been trying to withdraw the funds from my account now for over a year with no success.  Due to Covid, I cannot speak to anyone on the phone.  There was an alert put onto my account and they required company current information such as proof of address, registration docs etc.  Unfortunately when I opened the Pay Pal account, the company was active and registered, but it has not been operational for about 12 years, so it is impossible to supply that info.  I was told that I can withdraw the funds into my Bank account, but I am asked for a "Routing Number" and according to my bank, South Africa does not use Routing Numbers.  When I click on transfer funds, first question is which currency, second I am given the option of my bank, but it is greyed out, or to link a bank. If I click on Link a bank, it asks for a routing number which I cannot get.  See the screen shot below.  So it is catch 22.  I have sent this mail to PayPal numerous times, but always get the same generic answer to withdraw the funds to my bank which does not help in the slightest.    PLEASE HELP.  Thank you

How can I transfer funds from my PayPal account to my bank account in South Africa?

Transferring funds from your PayPal account directly to your eligible First National Bank of South Africa (ETF) bank account is easy and secure.

To transfer funds, you must first link your PayPal account to your bank account.

To link your PayPal account to your ETF account, follow these steps:

Log in to your FNB account at www.fnb.co.za.
Click on PayPal Services and then on Link PayPal Profile.
Follow the instructions to link your accounts. You will need to sign in to your PayPal account to confirm that you are the account holder.

After linking your PayPal account to your ETF account, follow these steps to transfer funds to your ETF bank account from your PayPal account:

Log in to your FNB account at www.fnb.co.za.
Click on PayPal Services and then on Withdraw from PayPal.
Enter the transfer amount in USD dollars. (Please check that your PayPal balance is sufficient to make the transfer.)
Follow the instructions to confirm the exchange rate, the Rand amount you will receive, and the Transaction Terms and Conditions.
You will be directed to PayPal to sign in and verify the amount you are transferring to your ETF account.
Then you will be redirected to the FNB site. Your funds will be transferred to your bank account within 3 to 6 business days.

I have the exact same problem, except I'm in Canada.  I've been at this for a year with no success.  If you come up with any ideas, please keep me posted.

Hi Marge,  I am glad I am  not the only one.  I have never in my life battled with a company like I am battling to get productive answers from Paypal.  They obviously do no\t read my queries properly, because they always send the same reply that does not help one Iota.  I wish Elon Musk would go back to Paypal.  I even opened a Payoneer account and tried to link it that way, but it won't allow me to link it, I assume because there is some sort of hold on my account.

I will let you know if I have any luck. WORST WORST WORST SERVICE EVER AND I CANNOT EVEN TALK TO AN OPERATOR.

Hi,

Thank you for your email and response.

Ok so my FNB bank account is linked to PayPal.  When I go through the steps as you suggest, I get rerouted to my PayPal account, but then this error comes up.

So even if I try to withdraw the fund through my local FNB, which I did for years, the transfer is not possible.

Please advise what else I can do.
