So I'm thinking about trying Bill Me Later for some future purchases, but feel that I need some second opinions before making the decision. I've seen some posts about cases where customer service is incompetent to resolve problems, account linking problems, checkout problems, not recieving the promotions, etc. Where does BML stand today?? Has the feature improved lately?? Or is it still having problems??
Also, are there extra fees that you pay when making the monthly payments on what you buy? Or any other hidden things??
And since it's my first time using a credit line type of system, what are the basic things to understand about them?? Like APR and interest rates and what not.
Thanks!

Don't! I somehow got signed up for Bill Me Later when I signed up for Pay Pal. The only way I could pay my balance (once it appeared) online was if I gave them my bank account number routing number and other information that I just don't want to give out online! That is why I use a credit/debit for online purchases which they don't take. I'm mailing them a check the old-fashioned way and I hope it gets resolved because I never want to deal with Bill Me Later again!
The whole thing seems like a big scheme from Pay Pal.

I opened bill me later way back last year.. 1st it was a great experience using their no payment no interest promotion and been using them alot and paying off all the my balance ahead of time.. late last year i purchased a lens and used their promotional "no interest for 12 months" the transaction went will. then when i was about to pay my monthly payment i saw the statement that the full price for the lens is due.. meaning i have to pay the whole thing (1st month of the 12 months) i called customer service and of course they said they fixed it.. check my balance again and i was surprised to see my balance double (x2 the price of the lens) called again and took them a week to fix the problem.. then was about to purchase am item form ebay again.... without letting me know my account was deactivated.. meaning i cant use bill me later.... called customer srvice again and they cant answer me why my account was deactivated then they offered me to reactivate my account.. i told them get me the reason 1st why my account was deactivated.. i was always on time or ahead of time of my payments... they couldnt answer my why... so i didnt let me reactivate my account.... after a year i called customer service again asking them i havent recieve any explaination why my account was deactivated still no asnwer.. so i ask if my account can be activated again.. the guy told me yes. reconfirmed my info then the last he wanted me to agree on a terms and conditions.. i asked him to send the terms and conditions to my email then ill agree to the terms and conditions after i read it. the guy said "No i cant send it to your email. But i can send it to you after you agree to it" i said to myself WHAT!? how can i agree to the terms and condition without me reading and knowing it 1st? so i told the guy, if thats the case i dont want to reactivate my account.... My experience is from GOOD to WORST! now i am happy with amazon store card since all their promotions are being reported to the credit bureau while bill me later is not ( i dont know now).. i will never ever reactivate my account.. ill just pay off my last remaining balance from that 12 months promotion that started this problem...

Using BML will mean an inquiry at Equifax. Beware as this can affect your credit score.

Personally, I would not subscribe to this service, if I had the opportunity again. They stopped a payment I made, and when I plowed thru their laborious automated voice menu, I was being asked personal questions that had nothing to do with the issue at hand. I finally refused to answer any additional questions. I purchased a home with less of a hassle. They stopped my payment to a vendor, because my address did not contain the "#" symbol in my address. Let me repeat that, because it is incredible, they stopped payment because of a missing symbol in my address. Then, they did not release the payment, but instructed me to submit the payment again. Wellllll, I did, only I did not use Bill-Me-Later, I used my reliable PayPal account. The same one I have used for umpteen years without a single hitch. This association, with Bill-Me-Later, is not even a month old, but I'm done. I am now wondering if they did this intentionally, to get me to call in and then try to sell me some other service. However, when I announced that I was irate over the matter, the lady couldn't wait to bid me adieu. Bottom line: DON'T USE THIS SERVICE!!!!!!!!

I've used Bill Me Later with no problem so far. They even tell you how much to pay per month to avoid interest.

I've had PayPal for the last year and never had any issues. I use it religously. I opened a Bill Me Later account a few weeks ago and had no issues for the first two purchases and first payment. But, my two most recent purchases today are both being deducted from my PayPal Balance Funds and my Bill Me Later Available Credit. That is illegal to say the least.

I am still confused as to why many people think that you MUST give BML your banking information.
Since December I have had 4 Deffered No Payment/Intrest/6 month etc etc. charges and have paid off all but one of them, and that one will be paid off next month. I have not (knock on wood) had any bad misfortunes, and have yet to add my Banking Info on the BML website. You simply pay it from your account that you already have linked in Paypal.
Simple as that!!
