About a week and a half ago, i shipped a gameboy that i sold on ebay. After about 5 or 6 days, i contacted the person that i sent the gameboy too via ebay mail and they said to me that they got it and would leave feedback. When i shipped the package, i didnt use a printable shiping label, i just went to the post office and wrote down the adress of my buyer. Now even after contacting my buyer, my funds are still being held and i dont know why or what i can do in order to get my money for the gameboy. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

I just wanted to let everyone know how to get their payment released. Call 1(800)888-6080... go through the whole story regarding your held payment to customer service, and when they tell you there is nothing they can do, ask for their supervisor. They released my payment after I told them I couldn't ship my buyers item until they released the funds. I also told her that it isn't fair that they take their cut, but don't release mine. She told me they don't, but I find that hard to believe. I will never use paypal again! This new policy is obviously a way for them to make money. Bye bye Paypal!!!

This is the scoop, all funds held after sale, including $159,99 shipping cost. Had to ship the item on my own dime to get feedback. Here you go, your are out your item, your are out additional shipping cost, the buyer could care less to leave feedback or does not believe you that the funds are held, even though numerous emails, funds held for 21 days...these people can't be serious about this stunt !!!!!
Paypal has joined the greediness of banks and simular businesses. Shame on you...
I demanded from paypal to pay out the interest they earned on MY funds. Of course that did not go over well,
they are stating they do not earn interest...what a bunch of "whoha"....This is all a bunch of BS....
Never again, Paypal nor ebay...

I'm still waiting 2 weeks after buyer got my package, and was veryhappy and left excellent feedback! PayPal is still holding my money, and I can't get thru to anyone. I had a perfect sales record of several years! WHERE IS MY MONEY PAYPAL??? ARE YOU A SCAM/ OR GOING BROKE, AND DON'T HAVE OUT MONEY??? if this goes on for a total of a month, I am bringing you to small claims court, and will ask for damages!

I have been with paypal and ebay for 10 years but always as the buyer. selling tons of things that do not get used around house. 1 being very expensive and got the same pending 21 days things. I am very concerned with these other posts. did you get your money?
all of those out there, have you recieved your money after 21 days or positive feedback, or delivery confirmation?
this is concerning to me
thanks for any input

I agree that the hold/payment pending with paypal really sucks. And I dont understand the randomness of what will be held, why or when. Esp if the item you sold has NO REFUNDS OR RETURNS!!!!!
If I sell an item that can not be returned or refunded, and I have 100% positive FB why would Paypal hold the payment?
Sellers are both Paypal's and Ebay's bread and butter. Sellers do not want neg feedback. People can be jerks and find any reason to be unhappy with an item & leave neg feedback or just not care and leave no feedback at all. I am waiting two weeks for an experienced ebayer to leave me feedback and once I sold a motorcycle and never got any feedback at all!
My example: Ive sold about 7 items over the past week on ebay and no payments were held.... all of a sudden today a $19.00 payment was held? I cant figure out why? I currently have about 15 other items for sale and I worry that if they sell, the payments may be held. There is a reason that they are for sale! And its not to get the money sometime after Christmas... HELLO.
I do see many auctions that state we do not accept PAYPAY and now I see why.
Funny how my payment is held but Paypal took their cut already.
I also agree that Ebay's fee's have gone to high and as an artist I may not be able to afford selling on ebay much longer. I also got an invoice for about $40.00 Crazy...
I hope that by paying the extra .80 cents for delivery confirmation (which I did not include in the shipping charges to the buyer) Paypal will be satisfied. and release MY money. I promise to ship items within two business days for the holiday season. So as I rush to do this service for my customers, Paypal grabs and holds the money?
I liked paypal because it was quick and easy and people could safely pay w/ credit cards. But it should be more sensitive to the people who are paying for their service... the sellers. You know, the people who's money you're holding.
In answer to your question tho: I once sold a $300.00 item which cost $48.00 to ship & Paypal held the payment. I had to pay out of pocket for the shipping. The buyer wasnt happy with one of the freebie extras that I had thrown in for free. She wrote me a letter complaining... I thought I was **bleep**ed out of $348.00 because she didnt read the add right. Once I pointed it out to the buyer, she was satisfied and she left positive feedback... but it took a while for that feedback to come. I think I emailed paypal that the buyer had left + feedback and my money was released... then of course it took a couple of days to transfer to my bank account.... but it was sooner than the 21 days.
Why does paypal take their fee and hold the rest? Why after 7 transactions in a row without holding a payment do they suddenly hold a payment?
Happy Holidays Sellers... I hope we all get our money before Christmas!

I agree! I sold a cellphone that was brand new, and I am not a business, so I don't accept returns. I don't understand the hold time, either. Its bought as is. If this is supposed to be protecting everyone, then the BUYER should be reminded to mark item as received so we can get our d*** money! I always thought feedback was required, but I read that its not. That's great. So the people waiting on positive feedback to release funds are out of luck.

i've just joined the growing club of people with funds being taken hostage by paypal.
it really boils down to them concocting a way to earn interest on our money. pretty outrageous when they're already scalping so much in fees. on average, they (ebay + paypal , same company btw) are already taking about 10-11% of the sale price from me; now they want to hang on to my money for 3 weeks.
for the casual seller, are there viable alternatives to using paypal? this experience has really turned me off of ebay. are there any better sites? amazon marketplace? maybe i'll just take my stuff down to a pawn shop. probably get less, but get cash and don't have to deal with all this hassle.

fyi, paypal has the abilirty to release the funds whenever they want. if you call them and advise that you have tracking info to confirm delivery they can and have released the funds for me while i am on the phone. it depends whom you speak to. it seems that even with the positive feedback you need to call them to request your money. it is really out of control.
