Hold on payments after delivery is confirmed?

I want to know you're experiences with this hold policy. I have sold multiple items on eBay and I always get a tracking number when I ship an item. I have confirmation that the items have been delivered but I still have holds on the money. I have also added the tracking numbers to paypal and to eBay. I have not however received any feedback yet. It has only been a few days since the items have been delivered but I want to know if I'm going to have to wait the full 20 day hold or if anyone has experience with this and can tell me how long it takes. Thanks

Amanda,

I don't know who you think you are trying to kid here, but the Internet, and this site, are FILLED with complaints from Sellers who have sent items at their expense, confirmed delivery, and weeks later, still haven't received their money.

I hope that I don't become another one very soon.  Either way, I will never use PayPal again and am keeping my fingers crossed that some other company comes and steals all of us away.

PayPal is cutting their own throat with their stupidity.

PayPal’s policy of withholding payments from new Sellers (Pending Balance) is outrageous and should be illegal.

Do you walk into a store, pick up an item and then tell the store clerk as your walking out the door; “you’ll get your money in 21 days”?

Scott, I hope you never sent that accordion.

if the funds were help BEFORE you shipped then that might have indicated an INSUFFICIENT FUNDS issue with the buyer.

You don't call PayPal and say elease th fund so I can ship.

You ASK is there a fraudster suspected and should I WAIT TO SHIP just in case I am about to be robbed.

Sounds to me like pay pal doesn't have your money because thee may have been a fraud or theft of credit card issue with the buyer.

it's Feb. now.

did PayPal ever release the funds?

Did you really ship a $700 item you had no proof of payment on?

 Was the buyer's address CONFIRMED?

as he buyers bank account VERIFIED?

If not or one or both you will not be covered by PayPal's policy.

Hi Amanda,

About holding funds until delivery is confirmed AND the buyer has given positive feedback... How can I, as a seller, force any buyer to give feedback of any kind?

Delivery confirmation might be a good idea, IF the Post Office were better than 70% efficient at their jobs. Buyer feedback, just on my sales is probably around 40%-50%. Most of the buyers communicate with a payment and no comments of any kind.

Seems like the policy may be heavy handed and actually give buyers an incentive to cheat more readily than before.

absolutely right! I have never cheated a buyer - but let me tell you I have lost plenty to certain buyers...us sellers are not protectected even with excellent feedback!!! this is so absurb!! in an economy like today...we are beaten down even more!!! what high paid executive got a bonus for this idea...on the backs of us slaves!!

Yea, The requirement for 100 feedbacks doesnt sound bad till you figure out that less than 10% of the customers (or other sellers) leave any feedback at all. That makes the 'probationary period' about 1000 feedbacks. I've only gotten feedback 3 times out the last 30+ transactions. And cannot find any place to fight about that. Has anyone contacted the state's AG office yet?
