From Now On I Am Not Going To Ship Items If Funds Are On Hold.

Because the shipping costs are included in the funds.  If I have no access to the funds cause of the hold, then I have no access to the money the buyer pays for shipping.

i am soooo fed up w/ebay+paypal. i just recently became eligible to no longer have my funds "held". during that awful time, i dealt with so much bullshi* from my buyers. how is it that i sell an item for $200 and an additional $40 for shipping, and i have NO access to that money until they feel like releasing it. i called and asked if they could release at least the $40 so i could print out shipping labels (as i am poor just like everyone else, and don't have an extra $40 to dish out). well surprise surprise, papal said no. i email the buyer to give them the heads up, and they reply saying that it wasn't their problem and they already sent the money to paypal and thought i was making it up that paypal held the funds. it is a nasty cycle of selling an item, buyer sends money which paypal holds, you have to wait until you have extra cash to send out which could take who knows how long, then when the buyer gets the item if they don't leave positive feedback, you wait even longer and when they finally release it you have to wait another 4-days to transfer to your bank account. and if they leave you negative feedback for shipping delays, you can't even leave them anything BUT positive feedback. there is NO SELLER PROTECTION!!!

I am new to Paypal.  Below is the message I received from Paypal after my first sell today.  Well, I had my first sell on Ebay am not happy cause you guys took the money and told me you automatically hold it up to 21 days.  Tried to ship it out via paypal and couldn’t cause I didn’t have any available funds in paypal cause you are holding what I just earned. Takes 3-5 business days to put money in my paypal account, so I had to take it down to UPS and pay it myself to get it shipped out on time or I would get negative feedback.  Ive never seen any warnings before stating that you would take my money for up to 21 days, for a period of 6 months until I am proven trustworthy until  now,  after you already took hold of my money.   I thought this was the reason I got verified, you already have my Bank account number and credit card tied to paypal?  Why is it I can buy something on Ebay with no money in my paypal account and it instantly transfers out of my checking account to cover but I cant pay shipping that way? Why can you transfer right out of my Bank account but it takes 3 to 5 days to show up in paypal.  You obviously are using peoples money in that period of time it takes to show up in Paypal. I am new to Ebay/Paypal, I figured Id sell 3 to 4 things a month  and make a bit of extra money, now I don’t think I can afford to ship out items each month at my own expense when all the money will pile up in your hands and you pay me my money for one item  after21 days?  Im assuming all the risk as im going to send items out the door and not receive payment until you feel its ok, that is shady to me on your part.  I am forced to use you as a middle man on Ebay and what are you doing for my money other than holding it and using it. I don’t see the benefits you are offering me at all so far.  If its going to take 21 days to get paid what is due to me on an instant payment,  I”ll be broke sending items out the door for policies you tell people about after the fact not before hand, UNACCEPTABLE !  It would be quicker for someone to mail me a check or money order, wait for it to clear then send out my item but I think I don’t have that option on Ebay do i? Im stuck with you hijacking  my funds?

My name is Craig, I actually started this topic a long time ago after being pushed around and ignored. I had a buyer that simply would not be cosiderate and leave feedback to release my funds, I had proof they recieved it and signed for it. so I notify Paypal of my dilema. After and email and two phone calls....(loooong ones, put on hold for like 10 minutes) they said they would look into it. It was horrible because the item bought only cost 60 bucks, but the girl wanted it ASAP and lived in canada. It cost 136 dollars to ship. Anyway 2 days later i get an email from Paypal...in their ultimate wisdom and attentiveness they notified me the issue was resolved and funds released! WOW! ................NOT! Get this, they said that there rep, "Susan" had investigated and verified thru DHL that the item had indeed been delivered, that they had contacted buyer blah blah blah. They were happy to inform me that the $33,08 was now available. WTF, WTF WTF! These doooooshbags had released the funds from the wrong f'ing buyer. Furthermore, I didnt even send that item via DHL, it was thru USPS. I clearly stated in my initial email, the buyer, amount, transaction and item number, the NAME of the buyer and location and a copy of the tracking info from DHL. I mean are you kidding me? Nothing was verified, no one did any "investigating" some lazy, unintersted, inconsiderate, pathethetic excuse for an employee took a 10 second glance at my account, shrugges thir shoulders, highlighted a transaction and clicked a button. No chain of command, no flow chart, no supervision, no quality control. I bet you your power seller status, if the numbers would have been flipped around; they had released $200 instead of $30, then someone would have noticed and my account would be frozen, I'd be threatened with everythong from terminated ebay membership, to God knows what. But it did finally work out, I called and emailed and waited on hold, to have a Paypal Rep tell me, "I can't imagine how this happened" with a little nervous chuckle that trailed off and said, "I wonder if this guy knows we f***ked up?"

Now.....I had a guy file a dispute claiming he didn't get his item...which is true, he hadn't. But we were communicating, and it is my fault. But the thing that just slayed me was, that all he had to do was "say" this happened, and Paypal rolled up like some uninformed, overzelous vigilante of the virtual void called the internet, and yanked the funds out of my account, which the transaction in question was for more than my balance, so I show a negative $156. All this was done with out contacting me...just a quiet little evil email sitting in my inbox doing push ups waiting to sucker punch me when I opened it.

I AM OVER IT! I read a post here that said he was going to look into other available online options to Paypal, and Ebay. I tell you what, this market is dying for a new breed and would do well if it was a viable answer to these two ,,,,.......*******you know what I mean. Oh ya, Paypal sure asa fk makes sure they get thier fee before its "released" so does Ebay. I am not a criminal and I wont be treated like one. I am going to slowly phase out of both and just use craigs list and the old fashioned way..,.garage sales.

There is another way to fight back.

I simply put a NOTICE on ALL of my listings.

Join in and bring the unfair treatment to light...

On all your listings simply cut and paste the following:

SPECIAL NOTICE:

FOR FASTER SHIPPING DO NOT USE PAYPAL!

PAYPAL HAS IMPLEMENTED A POLICY OF HOLDING FUNDS FOR UP TO 21 DAYS.

I DO NOT SHIP ITEMS THAT HAVE FUNDS ON HOLD.

READ THE FOLLOWING TO SEE WHAT PAYPAL AND EBAY ARE DOING TO SELLERS:

Just wanna let you know before they penalize you for violating their TOS,  Remove the part where it says DO NOT USE PAYPAL and you will be fine, as TOS states that you cannot use that wording.

OK now what can be worse than this?

Ebay auction goes perfectly. The buyer pays PayPal within seconds.

Paypal is holding my money until the buyer recieves the item and leaves positive feed back.

I overnight the item to him and he leaves positive feedback the very next day.

My funds are now free.

So I try to withdraw the funds into my approved checking account and PayPal says it will take 4-5 days.

Wow! I'm really shocked to see that so many people are having this same problem.

Here's my problem. There were two actually.

First, I sold an item in hopes to use the funds to buy another item. I sold the item, received payment that day, and then shipped the item the same day. Then later that night bought the item I was going to buy using the funds I assumed were in my Paypal. I had not been notified that my payment was on hold, so I initiated a payment out of my Paypal money that was on hold, which meant that Paypal redirected funds from my checking account. Unfortunately, I didn't have enough to cover it in my checking, so I incurred a $30 overdraft fee.

In the second instance, I sold an expensive item that costs alot to ship. I really need that shipping money to ship it. That's just common sense of course. So now, funds on hold again, I can't afford to ship the item without having to take money of my savings account which is for school in hopes that the buyer will leave feedback soon. I can't pay for confirmation because I didn't charge the buyer for confirmation. So if I want to do that, there is even more money taken out of what I'm netting, after all of the eBay and Paypal fees.

Here's why this is so confusing. I'm shipping musical instruments. Those aren't listed in the Paypal FAQ as a high risk category, but then I called Paypal today, and they said that they are considered high risk. So the question (to which they had no answer) is... why have my payments never been held before??? I've always bought and sold instruments and simply because I don't do it full time, now I have to take a hit. This is completely unfair to sellers.

I understand buyers need reassurance, but if this is the case, then what protection did Paypal offer before they recently started doing this? Was that just an imaginary thing? If Paypal did this to me from the beginning, I simply would not have used Paypal. But instead they wait until I desperately need the money to deny me money that is mine. The worst part is - I'm selling something for a friend!

So I called Paypal today and they said there was nothing they could do for me. Even after I asked to speak to the manager and her manager. It's a shame, but I'm going to have to take my business elsewhere because I can't afford to keep having my money tied up for weeks. I'm going to tell people I know too.

They also have a hold on my my funds, but it is a partial hold which doesn't make sense. So I called PayPal and the stupid girl I talked to could not answer my question or even offer to find a answer. I have sold 3 items in the past 2 weeks and a hold was placed only on one of them. I called to find out why. My feedback is 98 @ 100% + so I know according to their new policy you have to be at 100%, but why not put a hold on everything I sold? I told her I plainly listed in CAPS no return refunds or exchanges whatsoever ask questions before bidding. So how can anybody claim that I did not describe it correctly. This is a stupid policy that if not changed will lose many customers. I told her that if I have to wait on my money next time I'll list as money order only and PayPal won't receive any money for the transaction.
