So how does this one work out?

Ok guys here's my story, sorry if I come across as moody and angry, well that's because I am. So basically there's a site where people can trade/buy/sell playstation 3 trophies. So I sold a this guy (army) a prototype platinum trophy for $45, it took me about 24 hours to do this for him in total. Other people I know have also sold him trophies about $500 dollars worth and these took quite alot of our time. So a week later he decided to claim unauthorised transaction (chargeback) not only on me but against at least four other people all from the same forum!

I provided alot of evidence from forums, him giving me his psn details and confirming my email address for paypal. So after a weeks worth of waiting the results come in, The guy wins his dispute evne though he hasnt provided any proof whatsoever so the $45 gets removed from my account and I get charged an extra $13 out of my own money even though i'm in the right. I'm going to phone paypal up and see if I can do anything and if not I WILL be taking it a step further because to be frank this is complete RUBBISH.

Something like is happeneing to me too as i sold fifa 11 ultimate team coins on the xbox 360 and the buyer bought them for £100. Now the buyer buys the items immediately and i send the coins over and the transaction was succesful. Until the buyer make a unauthrised claim and thats when Paypal took the money from my account. I have since given evidence of me sending the item over but for some reason Paypal want proof of the tracking number which i dont have as i sent the information through the ebay messages and sent the coins through xbox 360.

Now which makes me very angry is a few weeks later i hear from Paypal and they say the case has been closed. I check the activity and it says that the Fees have been reversed meaning the buyer who has rightly got my 1 million coins has got his money back while i have a negative balance. This is shocking as once again i have spoken to another ebay member on their feedback score and they are having the same problems.

Now what happens because i geuss this happen with every transaction!

Someone help please

Yh i wont be using paypal anymore but i fear that having a negative balance will give me problems in the future as i cant remove my card details.

I mean i gave the coins for £100 and now i have to pay that back but have 0 coins

I either need the buyer to give me the coins back or them to tell paypal they were lieing.

I just dont know what to do as eventually i may have to pay back that £100 which i can barely do and after that i will never use ebay or paypal ever again.

Please someone from Paypal respond to these messages

Hey there,

LiamVXR, with a chargeback PayPal has no control over the decision the card company makes. The card company do their own reviews of the payment and if they decide to reverse the funds then the funds are being reversed.

The only thing you can do is make sure you are keeping yourself covered under seller protection. From reading your posts thought it sounds like you are selling virtual items, is this right? If so I’m afraid PayPal does not cover virtual or intangible items.

Crispy-boy, the reason why tracking information is needed is to prove the item has been delivered. With virtual items we are unable to prove that it has been delivered and as a result there is no seller or buyer protection offered on virtual or intangible item.

If a buyer is doing this a lot through the PayPal system this won’t go unnoticed. If they have a number of cases on their account action will be taken.

I have just had a similar problem.  item sent, payment reversed, claim upheld because I did not have a posting ID.  Buyer posted positive feedback, including comment about good packing, but Paypal will not accept this as proof of posting / delevery.  So why you may ask do i not have proof of posting?  Well I did get reciepts for the posting but when I got the feedback confirming delivery they were no longer required, or so I thought.  Paypal say it is not the fault of the buyer but the Bank/ credit card.  Whatever the reason someone has my helicopter for free!!!   i am not a happy bunny and really wonder what Paypal is doing?  how can I trust them with my transactions in future.  £77 may not be a lot to them but it is to me.

Hi there Blunderbuss,

I realise that this must be frustrating for you but a chargeback can be filed on a tranasction for up to 6 months after a payment has been sent through the PayPal system. We would always advise sellers to try and keep their postage receipts on file for up to 6 months after a payment has been received if possible.

In order for us to provide coverage under our Seller Protection Policy, we would need to see where the item has been posted to. Although you may have received feedback from your buyer, we can't accept this as a proof of delivery because we need to see the item was sent to the address on the PayPal transaction details page.

If the case has been resolved and the payment reversed, you should try contacting your local citizen's advice bureau or trading standards office in order to determine if there is anything more that you can do in order to try and get your money back.

I apologise that there is nothing further that I can do in regards to this but I hope the information helps,

David.

Hi David.

I appreciate your comment and was, in fact, expecting one from a moderator.  Whilst i understand that you cannot do anything about the situation, i was not expecting anyone from Paypal  to do so and was just flagging it as another problem.

I do find it curious though that Paypal will accept proof of posting but not proof of delivery!

In the case of a disputed delivery then I can understand that the goods must be sent to the registerd address and some proof of that provided.  But in this case the buyer has confirmed delivery and even if it was sent to another address, which this was not, then delivery has been accepted and recorded.

I look forward to my day in court as i am sure that the Magistrate in the small claims court will be interested not only in the letter of the law , as per the Paypal terms and agreements, but also in the spirit of the law, in that delivery has been established and hence by logic it must have been posted.

Once I get the forms filed it should prove an interesting experience and I look forward to a Paypal representative arguing the case.

Interested to read these messages - I have just had a transaction (a sale) reversed despite having proof of posting AND an email from the purchaser confirming that the monies had (a) left his account on his authority and (b) that he had received the book in question. My side of the story ignored and I can't re-open the case? Big Brother or what - extremely disillusioned with PayPal. The purchaser didn't raise a case - he is ignorant of what is going on but PayPal know better? Very disappointed - sour taste in the mouth.
