Should i offer part refund yet?

Hi

I wonder if somebody could answer this.

I sold a Metabo drill on ebay for £92.00 plus £12.00 postage. The buyer has since said that the item is faulty and not as listed. We have had it back and our engineer has said that he cannot find anything wrong with it. I do state in my listing that i do not except returns unless something is faulty. I can send it back to Metabo for a full inspection but if they find nothing wrong they do charge £20.00 inspection fee. My customer is asking for a full £104.00 refund which i would give if we could identify a problem but i am prepared to give him the £92.00 back. I have emailed him asking what exactly is wrong with the drill and explained the charges from Metabo but am still waiting to hear back. I would just like to know where i stand and the best way for me to go forward. I will always give a full refund where something is faulty but don't want to lose out on my carriage charge if something isn't.

I agree you are being fair, trouble is things may not work out that way if the buyer files a dispute.

If paypal find in his favour then you would have to give a full refund.

The point is if he refuses your offer will he file a dispute?

Thanks for the reply. Pity either PayPal or EBay don't think a little more about the sellers. It is also annoying to me that sellers can only leave positive feedback about the buyers. I think I will reluctantly give him a full refund to save any hassle and nasty feedback.
