I purchased an item off ebay seller sent via courier the courier left my package & left a card (this was supposed to be a signed for item) when i went to where the item was supposed to have been left when i got home from work the item was not there. i contacted the courier who told me to inform my seller, my seller confirmed item should not have been left & should have been signed for & investigated this matter i emailed a copy of the card the driver left & the seller got confirmation it was a driver error on the courier's behalf & issued me a refund 5 days ago the money was put on a temp hold by paypal but is still not back in my account so i can re-order the product from my seller.
how long do i have to wait as funds cleared my bank account before seller issued refund?

Hi there Fiona72,
If the original payment was made using a bank transfer it can take 5-7 working days to clear through to PayPal. In a case like this where the refund was issued in the meantime it remains on 'Temporary Hold' until these funds clear.
So to answer your question look back to the date you made the payment & count 5-7 working days after this, this is the latest you will see the refund clearing to your PayPal balance.
Hope this helps!

I suspect that Paypal are playing the money markets with the money that is in limbo. They seem quite capable of debiting accounts within minutes. In this day and age of electronic transfers having money iin any financial system for five to seven days and it not working for someone doesn't seem credible.

But they don't debit it in minutes do they??
When you pay a seller it is never instant > paypal credit the seller for you and then start the process of uploading your funds to paypal from your funding source.
This is done so you get your item more quickly.
I have received items BEFORE my money has left my bank account on loads of occasions.
Advice is voluntary.
Kudos / Solution appreciated.

The money does leave my account within minutes. Must be going somewhere and not to the seller. So where is it?

Yes SOMETIMES it leaves your account quickly and then it has to go via clearing as paypal use a slower, cheaper method of transfering the funds.
However as i said they CREDIT YOUR SELLER FOR YOU INSTANTLY so you don't have to wait for your item.
I have had loads of posters on here saying why is it saying completed to the seller in their paypal account when it has not left their funding source yet.
So i was just answering your query that they take the payment soon enough but not refund as quickly....that is the reason.

Could you show proof of these loads of people please.
Also this statement is just smoke and mirrors = 'paypal use a slower, cheaper method of transfering the funds.'

Hi All,
I hope you don't mind me jumping in there.
Siobhan mentioned earlier in this thread that it takes a couple of days for the funds involved to reach us from your bank.
What tends to happen is that the funds leave your current account and move towards your bank's clearing house. From here, it then takes a few days for the bank to move the funds towards the PayPal system.
While this is happening, we place the refund on temporary hold and once we receive the funds from your bank, release the hold without delay.
I hope that helps clarify what is happening in these instances,
Conor
