Why not just go to the slightly extra trouble of sending trackable till you get your 100 sales?
Then once the item is shown as delivered you will get your money released?
As your buyers pay postage costs you can just list recorded delivery and the buyer even pays.
Without paypal and buyer protection it is doubtful whether we would even sell items as buyers would be wary about buying without buyer protection....and part of that protection is payment holds for new sellers.
There are millions of ebay sellers that have gone through that but only a handful complain about it, most of them myself included understand the reasons paypal do it and just put up with it or list with tracking and get the payment released earlier.
Advice is voluntary.
Kudos / Solution appreciated.

Because firstly, how about being a good seller and offering competitive p&p rates as rare games cost enough as it is, forgive me but didnt ebay crack down on people ripping off customers with p&p costs??? Most sellers make a loss on sales because of p&p! Anything in games that is in bulk or weighs a bit means we can only charge £3.00 MAX! So, no i wont charge my buyers more, im making a loss as it is.secondly, if you read, i sold because i was skint. Im not a power seller, i wont make 100 sales for a long time. And just so you know, today infact some snotty buyer with a feedback score of 5 had the cheek to have a go at me because i asked him for feedback if he was happy with his game, i got the most dumb witted response ever, is as follows, "ive bought a few items from sellers and not left feedback, they havent mentioned paypal rules" uneducated, so i linked him paypal rules showed him that small sellers like myself, need feedback and ebay doesnt work very well without it. Would he have bought from me if i didnt have good feedback? i think not. Would any buyer? No.
All we are complaining about, is those of us that dont sell 100's on ebay have suffer this nonsense of holding fee's. Were not saying stop it, and we are ALL very aware why this rule is in place. What we are saying is lower the 21 days. How many parcels go missing for 21 days? How many people wait 21 days for a package to turn up? No one. **bleep** sure i wouldnt. Besides, theres a dispatch time you have to put in on ebay as a seller which is usually by most sellers 2-3 days...that would leave 18-19 days for your parcel to turn up...you wouldnt wait that long either before contacting a seller. If you do your an idiot part of the reason ebay can fall apart. Its about COMMUNICATION. you get rated on it. Thats the bottom line. Thats why we are annoyed. Dont justify it with tinted glasses.

Sending recorded delivery is not ripping off buyers and ebay have no problem with you providing a legitimate postal service.
Most sellers make a loss on sales? Really? Then may be they should research the completed prices of similar items that have sold to decide whether its worth listing or not and if they are going to make a loss take it to the car boot instead.
Sorry you are skint, all i have done is post to advise you how to get your payments released sooner. I am not a powerseller, I think i mentioned earlier that all i did was go to a sale pick up a wad of cheap postcards and sold them just cheap enough that they sold and i made a little profit, sold just over 100 and the hold was released.
Yes you did get buyers that don't leave feedback and are rude if you ask them. I got around it by putting a slip in with their purchase and putting on it. "Hope you like your item, if you do i would appreciate it if you would take the time to leave feedback for me, i have already left some for you and thanks".......that seemed to work.
Your right in that games is a competitive field, maybe try listing some cheaper stuff from around the house etc till you get your 100?
Not trying to justify anything, i just did not mind the hold and understood why they did it.
You may well have a point about 21 days as yes most items arrive way before that.
I would not have a problem if paypal bought that down to about 14 days and agree with you on that.

Exactly! Thats all were asking. This is why i said review your policies. 14 days is much much much more reasonable. The point im making about losses on selling is, ebay only really account for postage costs, not packaging. They say postage and packaging but it doesnt cover it, for example, ive just sold skyward sword limited edition, because its in 'video games' the highest p&p costs i can charge is £3.00, now, recorded delivery for this item is a tad over £4.00, not to mention bubble wrap, thats £1.00 and a postage box is £1.49. Yes i made a loss on p&p, but thats not the buyers fault, its ebays fault, if i dont have competitive prices the buyer will go elsewhere, meaning i stay skint.
Im not about to start selling 100 postcards, ebay charge you listing and final value fee's plus yourselves take a bite of any transaction, that would just cost me more than it needs to. Its not a viable solution. As for boot sales...do you think i would have made a 20 mile round trip on foot had i had a car?

At least i am not rude to you, just trying to have an "adult" debate.
And does my posting here to help buyers not get scammed and help sellers find their money mean i work for paypal???
There is a lot paypal do wrong and i have posted to say this before so surely i should have an equal right to say when i think what they do is ok???
And to be honest count up how many have actually posted on here complaining about the holds and how many millions of sellers there are out there and its a very small fraction that are really unhappy about the hold. In fact when i do my cut and paste giving all the info a lot of them are fine about it.
And please don't accuse me of working for paypal i have a stressful job and posting here in the evenings etc to help others does not mean i work for paypal and most times i enjoy it.
The fact a lot of those i have helped have left me kudos is nice as it is ONLY from those i have helped and have taken the time to say thank you.

Excuse me i'm not being rude to you. Just because im speaking my mind and giving an opinion, just as you are does not make me rude. Just because you dont like it. You've admitted several times in a previous post that i have valid points on alot of things i've said, but i find you to be consistently wrong, theres a post underneath us of another person not getting paid after 21 days, and you said it rarely happens. Thats 3 transactions from 2 people. Yet that seller underneath us has to do the leg work, they have to phone paypal or email and find out where thier money is, why should they?? Paypal should just give it to them.
Im sure your job is stressful, i never said it wasnt, and i'm sure your very helpful on the right post, but not this one. There is no justifying anything paypal do regarding a 21 day hold. Yes its a good idea to have a hold in place, yes we all understand why its there. But holding people's money to make interest off longer than the stated days make it illegal. Thay act like a bank but without a lawful govening body. I'm sorry if you feel offended but ive seen no advice on here which is fair to the seller. Not from you or anyone. The best solution is to sell 100 postcards. Why cant it be that we can sell what we need to when we need too, and wait a maximum of a fortnight. And why cant paypal look after its sellers? how about we dont have to make international phone calls because they havent paid us? or email them because they havent paid us. Sorry but i think its a joke and we will always agree to disagree.

Err i think calling me names, telling me to educate myself and telling me "my lot" don''t care is rude. I am happy to debate and don't think i have been rude to you at all.
I do not work for paypal, i just did not have a big problem with the payment holds when i started....so just cus my view was different you accuse me of "working or similar with paypal".
No i post about 20 posts a day (thats gonna go up with this thread....LOL), on my time off from work to help others and am thrilled that i know i have stopped folks from being scammed by nigerians and helped other sellers. I used to post on the ebay boards, came here one day and no-one was helping so i started.
I am not saying everyone should get 100 postcards i am just saying what i did and it may well be a good idea to some folks, its a way of getting the 100 quickly and getting rid of the holds.
I equally did not say that that not getting your payment released at 21 days rarely happens, what i said is that you often do not have to wait 21 days if the buyer has left feedback or you give a tracking number.
However there have been 2 posts this week about someone not getting their payment released at 21 day, so how many thousands of new ebay sellers have the payment hold at the moment??
OK we seem to agree on a few points.
1. I have said i agree with you that it would be nice if the 21 days could be 14.
2. We agree that the holds are a good idea on the whole.
3. I also agree that paypal should release the payments promptly when feedback is released, tracking shows delivered + 3 days or at 21 days.............i have never said differently and think its bad when they don't.
4. I also agree that you should not have to keep emailing or phoning to get the payments released, however i still need to ADVISE people to do that if their payments are not released.
And looking back at that lot we seem to agree on a lot but i still have to say that most sellers DO get their payments released promptly as from the ebay boards i know a lot of sellers new and established and none had problems with waiting 21 days for every transaction.
You do still get payments released earlier so the 21 day hold is not ALWAYS a 21 day hold.
I shan't post again but hope you get to 100 quickly and can start selling without a hold. Cus to be fair i have got rid of a lot of stuff i could never have sold if it wasn't for ebay/paypal........one mans or ladies trash etc
Advice is voluntary.
Kudos / Solution appreciated.
