I am resident in the UK but I own a company in the Seychelles which also has a bank account in the Seychelles. I'd like to apply for a business Paypal account for the Seychelles company but the signup form asks for the 'business owners' address and the country field is fixed to Seychelles. This would imply that the business owner has to reside in the same location as the company.
Can anyone confirm if this is true? It doesn't seem like a reasonable requirement and I'd like to ensure that all info I provide is as accurate as possible. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

PayPal is country specific due to differing banking regs in each country.
That is why you can only add a UK address etc to a UK PayPal account.
If you move countries you have to open another one in the country you move to.
Advice is voluntary.
Kudos / Solution appreciated.

Thanks but I'm not clear on what you're saying. I'm not moving to the other country (Seychelles) where the business is incorporated. I live in the UK where I manage the business from. In this case can I open a Paypal business account under the name of the Seychelles company and link the Seychelles bank acccount to it? If so, what address do I use for the 'business owner' on the signup form as it forces the country to the Seychelles.

If it is a UK PayPal account then you can open it in your company name but would need to add a UK bank account / card to it and a UK address.
The only exception re bank account is if you have a U.S bank account you are allowed to link that to a UK PayPal account but you have to go via customer services to add it.
Advice is voluntary.
Kudos / Solution appreciated.

Its can't be a UK Paypal account, the company is in the Seychelles and has a seychelles bank account. Based on everything I've read its possible to open a Paypal Seychelles account as long as the company and bank account are located in the Seychelles. My question is whether I (as the owner/director) have to be resident in the Seychelles.
Thanks for you help.

I've spoken to two Paypal reps on the phone, neither of which know the answer to this question. I've been give the number for the support department in the Seychelles but they don't seem to ever answer. It seems like a really simple question and I've combed through the Internet and Paypal's website and cannot find an answer. Can anyone point me in the right direction? If we have to pay someone to answer we're prepared.

Hi CatMay2015,
Welcome to the community forum.
The answer to the question the previous poster was asking is that you don't need to live in the same country your business is registered in.
The PayPal account you would use for that business though would be opened in the country you are living in. You can add the business address on the account also and we will request some documents about operating in this way but it is ok to operate this way on PayPal.
I hope this helps.

So in this term, which rules of which country will be used for this business account????

Hey CatMay2015,
My best advice would be to register your account in the UK as you are living in the UK.
Then if you are asked to provide information in regards to your business at some stage in the future, you can provide information to us that shows your business was registered in the Seychelles.
As your PayPal account would be registered in the UK, the UK terms and conditions for PayPal would apply to your account.
I hope this helps,
David.
