I have just bought 2 sofas. During the auction i messaged the seller to ask if there was any damage and was assured that although they were used there was no damage. Having driven 2 hours to collect them I get them home to discover that there is a small tear in the fabric several of the buttons are coming off  the lining fabric is torn and the springs in the base of both sofa have gone which is virtually impossible to fix due to the cost. I have messaged the sellar who has not responded as yet, what shall I do?

I paid £460 for the pair and would not have been willing to pay that if I had been aware of the condition of the sofas.

Normally there is no buyer protection on ebay or paypal with items that are "collected".

This is because they presume when you collect an item you inspect it first before picking it up.

You can try and file a claim but can't promise that paypal will find in your favour but if they do you will have to return the items at your own expense first.

just sold a dolls vintage pram that was in decent condition for the age. all faults were stated in listing. buyer has opened a case stating frame was bent and the wheel was scraping the side. you can see by the pics that it was not like this when sent. there could have been damage done in transit but i very much doubt. i have twice asked buyer for pics of the damage but just getting no reply. also why have they opened the case with paypal and not ebay?

Hi there LF99,

When it comes to opening a case, a buyer can pick either PayPal or eBay. The process is generally the same with both companies.
