I run a works lottery syndicate and receive funds via Paypal from members. For some reason one deposit has been charged a 54p fee on a £10 deposit. This person pays regularly by this method and has never been charged a fee as have none of the other members before . Can anyone throw any light on this for me please ?

Sounds like a Goods and Services payment. The receiving fee on these payments is 3.4% + a 20p fixed fee. Sounds like the payment was sent to you via this method.
Personal payments don't get charged this fee, so maybe this is how you usually receive the apyments

if they have paid in the same way before and used the same option eg friends / family then maybe they changed their funding source?
Personal payments are charged a fee if funded via a card, they are only free if funded from funds in their paypal balance OR bank transfer.
Advice is voluntary.
Kudos / Solution appreciated.
