I sold an item on ebay over christmas and the now the buyer has put in a return request. My issue is that now my Paypal balance is negative and I don't have the funds in my bank account to cover the refund, will my paypal balance stay negative until i add funds myself? Or can Paypal take funds straight from my bank? My bank says I don't have a DD set up for paypal so they would have to go through my debit cards, but can paypal take it without my permission?

No, PayPal cannot take funds from your bank account even with your permission. You will need to contact our Customer Care department in order to resolve the negative balance on your account. The number for the UK is: 0208 6100 150. You can also add funds to your account to bring the balance to 0.
