Hi everyone, A few weeks ago I purchased an item valued at $200 from a private seller and shipped Via Aus Post. I have just received an email stating the item has been lost in transit, and unfortunately I did not pay for insurance via Aus Post. Since this is the case, Aus Post can only reimburse $100 due to not having insurance. However, a friend of mine told me since I paid via paypal buyer protection, that I could potentially make a claim against aus post and get the full amount reimbursed? I am not sure if this is the case and any help would be appreciated, as I don’t want to make a claim if it goes against the seller, as this is Aus Post’s issue & the seller has done nothing wrong. Thankyou

Hi @Zlatan23 Thank you for reaching out to PayPal Community Forum. I hope you are all safe and doing great. I appreciate your concern with the seller. Well, you have buyer protection if you paid for goods and services. I know that you don't want to file a dispute against the seller because you are correct it wasn't the seller's fault. However,we don't directly work with shipping company. If it's about insurance or policy we can't speak on their behalf. If you have way to contact the seller then he/she can file a dispute against the shipping company as it was lost in transit. If you can't get in touch with the seller then best option is to open a dispute because seller will be notified that you never received your package and seller needs to work with the shipping company. You'll just use dispute phase as medium of your communication as well. If seller can help you resolve the problem then PayPal will not come into place. Unless, you escalate it to PayPal. ***If this post or any other was helpful, you may enrich the community by giving kudos or accepting it as a solution.***Stay safe and take care.
