How did they scam? Did they send fake/spoof PayPal payment emails? And you shipped it out and you're waiting and waiting for payment. Or they made a PayPal claim and won somehow through some loophole?

I did web search for "offer up paypal" and there was a support document from Offer Up site and it was for PayPal Tips and the page has a "not found". lol Smh.

The web search engine has "People ask" results and with various faqs questions listed:

Can you use PayPal on Offer Up?

Answer: "You can use cash for local transactions. I wouldn't use PayPal with purchases here because the buyer can put in a claim and get their money back. PayPal isnt always the safest. Actually, buyer can't put a claim in when using "friends and family" PayPal option - only the "purchase goods" option."

(When I click on the link, its supposed to go to the Offer Up Community forums and I get:

https://help.offerup.com/hc/en-us/community/topics

PayPal's rules is you can't ask buyer to use friends and family for goods and services. 1) That is PayPal Fee avoidance. 2) Negates buyer's purchase protection. If friends and family is abused, the feature could go poo poo.

But if a seller asks for friends and family payment, seller can just block communication and not buyer ship anything as there are no refunds for the buyer.

I think it's time for only real businesses to be selling like before. lol You know its going that way with all the laws, rules and regs and red tape. And rugged  individuals are again stuck with selling at flea markets and out of their garages? Or selling their stuff to thrift stores if that is even a thing. Or doing what it is they did before the Internet game arrived.

Welcome to the dark side of selling and buying. Do you have the stomach for it.

Kudos & Solved are greatly appreciated. 🙂
