Fund withdrawal

A while back I opened a personal Paypal account in South Africa and used it as a savings account. A few months ago, I moved to Europe and started transferring the savings money over from my SA Paypal account to my European Paypal account. In July, I received a message from Paypal that there is a problem and I wasn't able to do any further transfers. I then received an email from Paypal, instructing me to send proof of address in SA. I left SA in November 2020, so how am I supposed to provide proof of address in SA if I'm no longer living there? Now I have my money in this SA Paypal account which I can't move over! I do not have an FNB account and even if I were to do an online application for one, I would not be able to provide proof of address in SA. So now what? Does Paypal keep MY MONEY?? I see that there is an option to close this Paypal account, but how do I withdraw the funds? I have a Paypal account in Europe but can't transfer from my SA Paypal to this account. I'm so frustrated with Paypal because it's almost impossible to email anyone! Please help!!!

Paypal is country specific so if you move countries you have to open another paypal account in the country you reside in and add an address / phone number / bank accounts / cards from within that country.

You should really withdraw any funds / resolve issues / remove cards and bank accounts / cancel any subscriptions and close the old Paypal account before you move countries. If you don't then you may have problems doing so once you have moved and may need to contact customer services for help to resolve things.

Contact options for Paypal are accessed by clicking help/contact bottom left of Paypal pages.

1. Paypal phones when available (you can use the guest option if you can't log in).
2. Live chat is also randomly available.
3. You can send them a message, during business hours you may also be able to message whilst logged out.
Or
4. Have you considered contacting Customer Service via Facebook or Twitter?
You can send them a personal message from their Facebook or Twitter pages.
It's: https://www.facebook.com/PayPal and @AskPayPal for Twitter.
