Fraudulent Direct Debit

Has anyone had a PayPal direct debit set up on their bank account with the reference: 55Y22229B5ARY

This has appeared on a bank account I dont use and I am not sure what it is.

I am sorry to hear that you see an unauthorised Direct Debit. Please note that in general, if you linked your bank account to your PayPal account, a Direct Debit mandate is necessary in order to charge your bank account. This means that if you want to pay through PayPal using your bank account, the charge will show on your bank statement as Direct Debit. Usually, payments are charged to your bank account 5/7 days after the PayPal transaction. I would recommend checking your PayPal account activity in the 2 weeks prior to the bank charge to see if any transaction matches the amount of the charge.
