A seller has asked me to close a dispute before receiving a refund - they say they can only do this when the dispute is closed. Is this correct?

Hello @CIN2,
Welcome to the PayPal Community, thank you for reaching out for help on this one. Short answer - no, do not close the dispute before receiving that refund. Once the case is closed, it cannot be reopened. If you are in the dispute phase, escalate this to a claim. If you are in the claim phase, make sure you keep it open until PayPal makes a decision on the case.
Cheers,
