Transaction fees

This is probably going to sound pretty dumb to seasoned eBayers, but I was always under the impression there was only one set of fees for selling payable to eBay, and that was then deducted from the Paypal account. Having just sold a fairly high-value item, Paypal has already deducted a fee and there is a different figure showing in my eBay account to be deducted later in the month! Have I got my knickers in  a twist, or do sellers get hit twice - once for selling on eBay and then another transaction fee on Paypal?!!

I have been with EBay for around 3Yrs but never used it, just opened a PAYPAL A/C and started to buy with a view to selling when I got the hang of it.

I did not realise how complicated life can be when payment is made to wrong Email ID by the seller is used & getting a refund. Postage & packing when selling.  Now on checking small print find that the fees for selling can outweigh the value of the item!

I think that eBay & PayPal may have to make  "a commercial decision" when & if revenue tails off, but as always (Multi Billion $ or whatever currency is traded as eBay & PayPal are world wide) they won't give a monkeys as all enterprises must make a profit, that's why we all use the system, to make a profit.

So having only just made the decision to use eBay & PayPal I shall look for others that make it worth the trouble to sell & buy Items instead of just chucking them in the bin, as I am down sizing before I "kick the bucket" not only to make it easier for the relative but to help the pension go further.
