Instant Transfer problem?

I know there are a lot of boards on problems with instant transfer, but I couldn't seem to find the answer I was looking for, so:
I play on a certain gaming site, where you can spend real money at get bonus items, etc.
PayPal usually lets me use instant transfer to make these transactions, but sometimes it won't.
I'm wondering why at certain times I can use it, but at other times it decides it's unsafe, even though I've purchased from them before, quite a few times.
It gets rather annoying when it won't let me purchase something I would like now, but have to use an echeck or drive down to pick up a mastercard, which usually comes to more than the card itself. (Eg. $50 Mastercard comes to $55.68)
Whereas if I was able to use my instant transfer I wouldn't have to pay the extra.
Is there a way to fix this?
Such as contacting PayPal and asking them to allow this certain site?
Or another way?
Thank you in advance!

Every now and again Paypal blocks me doing an instant bank transfer and only leaves me with the option of an echeck or using my credit card. I have never had any problems with Paypal, have always paid on time with everything I buy on Ebay so I'm not quite sure why this is happening. The only explanation I got was the item was flagged. It has happened to me quite often enough that I'm getting frustrated because I never know when it's going to happen until I commit to buy and then try to pay. The sellers are getting upset with the echeck payment because of the waiting period. I have a credit card as a back up funding source and my address is confirmed and is the same address on Ebay, Paypal and my credit card. The items I am buying are not high end items or expensive...vintage stickers, video games and clothes. The only reason I'm left with as a possibility is the feedback score. I have no problem doing an instant bank transfer if the feedback score is 100% but if it's below that there is a problem sometimes. If that is the case what is the feedback score that I should be wary of so that I know in the future. Is there a certain percentage that Paypal starts to block instant bank transfers and if so why!

Most likely the transfers are capped as a certain number of transfers per day/week/month. Think of it this way, if someone stole your credit card and made a LARGE buy, wouldn't you want the company to investigate it? The same goes for having MANY small transactions. its to keep your information safe and to make sure that there is time for you to log into your account and see that something bad is going on before it gets too out of hand. Keep in mind that for every transaction there is lots of paperwork (mostly Electronic) that has to be processed, Maybe pay pal is dealing with increased volume and cant process it all at once. Some banks limit the amount of transactions to an account daily. Some debit cards charge a fee for each trans action over an allotted number to transactions. Pay pal may just be forcing you to deal with e checks so to avoid an extra fee that your bank may or may not charge.

When I phoned them they told me the item was flagged but that is all they could tell me. They wouldn't tell me why it was flagged or if the seller is high risk only that it has nothing to do with me as a buyer. All of my problems are with Ebay just to clarify. I'm not buying things anywhere else. As soon as they said it's been flagged I thought of the feedback score because every time it's happened to me it's with a seller that has a feedback score of lower than 100%. Every time a buy from a seller that has a feedback score of 100% everything is fine. But what I'm wondering is what Ebay considers to be high risk?

I too am from Canada, I have a credit card assigned for back up funding. And now I am am not allowed to do the instant transfer. The online purchase was from a verified major online retailer.
Tell me why I should continue to use PayPal if this service is no longer available?

Hello,
I was recently trying to purchase a game on Steam by using instant bank transfer, but it would not allow me to, forced me to use my credit card. It's odd because I was able to purchase a game there using the instant bank transfer in the past. Does anyone have any idea as to why it doesn't allow me to use instant bank transfer for my purchases there?

I wouldn't mind knowing the answer to this as well. Where I'm currently located, going to pick up a prepaid debit card is not an option. I've used the Instant Payment method numerous times without any issues arising and now all of a sudden it's never available. I've checked with a few different sites I frequently buy from (all secure and reputable companies) and it's the same story with all of them.
This doesn't make any sense to me because I have no previously negative or outstanding issues with PayPal. I've read that making a new PayPal account is a solution to this very irritating situation however, I have had this account for years without any problems so I'd rather not going through the whole process again.
If anyone knows anything, please shed some light.

I've also had this issue for the last couple of weeks. Sometimes I can use my checking account for instant transfer, but this option was greyed out and there was text saying that this transaction had to be paid with a credit card, or that deal where they give you $10 off (I can't remember the exact text) and extended payments.
I think it's kind of a way to get people to extend their credit by using a real credit card (of course a debit card can be used), or sign up for the $10 off crap (I never sign up for these services, they are things you have to cancel and hardly ever save you any money in the long run). Nothing good is "free", or less than "free".
Or, it can be a problem with paypal, but they should notify us if this is the case.
Either way, it's complete BS.
