Fake Bill - What to do?

There is a fake invoice showing up in my account. The billing name looks like a person's name, but it's in a different language so I can't tell if it's a business name or a person's name. If I click to view the detail for this bill, the invoice shows up with GoDaddy logo at the top and looks like a GoDaddy invoice for a domain name that I recently renewed. The issue is that I have already paid for it using a different credit card that I have on file with GoDaddy.

I've reported this to PayPal, but the response I received from PayPal was "Thanks for letting us know about the suspicious website you visited. We'll investigate it, and may contact you with additional details." Not very helpful.

How do I report a fake bill? I'm not paying for it (because I already have) and I don't want my credit rating impacted if I don't.

Hi @anim8ter

Thanks for reaching out! PayPal would limit any accounts discovered to be committing fraudulent activity. If you have reported this activity to customer service, most likely this account has been forwarded for review but actions taken on another account would never be discussed with anyone other than the account holder.

Hi there @anim8tr

Thank you for reaching out to us via our Community Forums! I'd be concerned about that as well. If you've already paid directly through GoDaddy, then it seems like someone may be trying to send you a fake invoice pretending to be GoDaddy. This kind of social engineering is something we're always trying to curb and prevent. You should have the option to cancel the Invoice in your Activity on your PayPal account.

Here's a great Help Center article that dives a bit deeper into this topic: How to spot fake, fraudulent, spoof, or phishing emails

Have a great day!

Okay, I went ahead and canceled this invoice, BUT, do I need to be worried that they were able to do this from the beginning? It seems like it would be easy to do this via PayPal (send phoney invoices). Does PayPal turn-off an account if it's used to create a phoney invoice? I would think they would...
