I purchased a item from Merlin archery for just over 40 pounds using paypal and the item should have been a lower price ,Merlin archery refunded to my paypal account £16.52 but my account does not show this amount I have waited a few days to see if the refund apeared in my account but it has not Merlin assure my that they have credited my account,can you tell me why my account does not show the refund

Hi there hondapan,
There are two main reason that you wouldn't see your refund.
Reason 1: The original payment was made using a debit/credit card and the refund has been returned to this card. This would bypass your PayPal account.
Reason 2: When the payment was made, PayPal would have paid on your behalf out of own funds to make the payment reach the other party instantly. We then wait on the funds to clear from your bank account. This usually takes 7 - 9 working days to complete. We can't release a refund to you until the funds we paid out on your behalf has been processed into our account.
You should see the funds comes from your account around 3 days after you made the original payment, it then takes a further few days to clear into our account. It is only when this happens that we will place the refund into your account.

It depends, how did you pay? If you paid using a card this refund will show as going back onto the card and can take 5-7 working days to show on your card statement.
If you paid using a bank transfer or PayPal balance the refund will go back to your PayPal balance.
Here’s how to view the status of your refund:
- Go to www.paypal.co.ukand log in to your account.
- Click ‘History’ near the top of the page.
- Click ‘Refunds,’ then click ‘Details’ next to your refund.
