My advice is that you should go to your bank and let them know that you do not recognise that specific payment and that you would like the direct debit removed. As for a refund?I'm not sure how that woul work, but i got in touch with my bank and askd them to not allow any outgoing payments to where the payment was giong to.

Hi this message is for Paula, Hi my name is Keith I have been a long time user of Pay Pal yesterday for the first time I noticed a bill with a note, I did not purchase anything. I called Pay Pay they said cancel it so I did but why did it happen looks like a scam. It said bill from Kapta nay nan $15.96 then under Note: States it is a gift from paypal $50.00. What a joke can some one investigate this, just to be safe I deleted my bank account. What else can I do why is this happening?

Hi mumimoo,
If you are noticing payments on your bank account statement that are showing as a direct debit payment it may be transactions or purchases you have made on your PayPal account. If your bank account was used to fund the transaction you will see them a couple of days previous on your PayPal account as it takes a couple of days for PayPal to receive the funds from your account.
If you are still unable to determine what the payments are for then I would recommend that you go to your Resolution Centre on your PayPal account and click on the option "report a problem". You will then be guided through how to file a claim for unauthorised transaction (transaction that you are not aware of). Any payments that are found to be unauthorised will be returned back to you in full.
I hope this helps and please let us know how you get on as it may help other members

I have a similar problem - a bank statement that shows a Paypal payment that I can't identify. I have NO transactions on my Paypal account in the past two months.
I followed the advice and reported the transaction through Resolution Centre. That's hard, because the web-page expects you to identify a transaction on your Paypal account, NOT on your BANK account. So I used the Other option and entered the details in the text box.
24 hours later I got an email from Paypal rejecting my claim and suggesting that if I wanted to "see the documents they had used" I should write to an address in Atlanda by snail mail.
That's unhelpful and unprofessional. Maybe it's a legitimate payment that used anonymous Paypal but which I have forgotten, but there seems to be no way to get PayPal to tell me who the recipient is. So I'm left with no choice but to charge the payment back as a fraud, through my bank, and wait to see who complains.
It's unsatisfactory.
