Unknown Direct Debit

Hello there,

My mother has recived transactions from her Paypal account. Transactions have been sussesful and things are fine. But, an 'Unkown' Direct Debit' has come out of no-where. A payment of £.5.67 is going to be paid out monthly, and I haven't arranged anything at all.

Please reply if you know why or what it could be.

Firstly let me advise you that I edited your post as this is  a community forum and personal information should not be posted.

In relation to an unknown direct debit,  I would advise that you review your PayPal transactions a couple of days before you see it on your statement as if your payment was taken direct from your bank account it will show a few days prior.

When you have a bank account registered to your PayPal account, we may request the funds direct from your bank and this will show as a direct debit payment.

Well, PayPal Paula, I have just found a direct debit in my account for 12.99 a quarter to PayPal which was not agreed by me.  I have cancelled it from my bank and I am seriously considering shutting my PayPal account down right now as well as my bank account and going elsewhere.  Unauthorized payments are tantamount to fraud and I am certainly going to pass this practise on the Office of Fair Trading sometime this week.  If PayPal try and take this money from my account for no good reason at all, then I will certainly put my complaint in to the Metropolitan Police and inform the News Agencies of what is going on.  Don't touch my money unless a) You tell me what it is for, and b) I have given express authority for you to do so with regards to that reason.  I am very angry about this and will do all in my power to have it stopped.

I have sent you a direct email regarding this.

When you confirm your bank account all payments show as a direct debit to PayPal so I think this is where you may be getting confused.

Hi, it would appear from my bank statement you have made an over payment to juliesneat, the payment should have been for 19.48, which does show up on my paypal account, but you have taken an extra 20.60 from my bank, the bank will be contacting you regarding this , unless you can sort this before hand.

I would like to raise this as an issue as well. Just this week I found I had been debited for the first time for a MONTHLY direct debit that had been established in 2010. Not a single payment, a MONTHLY one.

This MONTHLY charge (unlike the other, standard, one time direct debits that paypal specialises in and that i have come to expect) was not set up by me, and did not appear on my list of disputable paypal transactions as per usual.

All the standard paypal charges are fine and have appeared on my list of disputable transactions and bank account as per usual.

The MONTHLY direct debit charge that was set up in December 2010 is my concern.
