Unable to add my current bank account?

I have sorted and verified my visa card - all fine, however when I try to add my current account or my savings account details it keeps telling me that it is unable to do this as the account is already associated with another PayPal account. This is obviously my husbands PayPal account as we share the bank account.
How therefore do I use PayPal if I cannot have a separate PayPal account to my husband when we share the only bank account I have? He has already tried to delete the joint account from his PayPal account but it will not allow him as it says that he has pending funds? Although he has no idea what this in relation to as the last time he used it was for a charity donation in September?
We really dont want to have to open another separate bank account - there must be another way around this?
Can anyone advise how you get around this please?

You have to use an unique bank account i.e one that has not been registered before and is not associated with another PayPal account.
Why not open a seperate bank account just for PayPal transactions?

I am having the same issue. I don't want to open another banking account. Some of us have better things to do with our time. I simply wanted to by an Ipod cover for $5 and can't do it. I just want to use the account I have. Don't have the time or the need for another account. Just want to use the one I have!!

Hi everyone,
This is a problem that can't be resolved i'm afraid .
It is not possible to have the same bank account registered on more then one PayPal account at the same time. Eventhough you may have a joint bank account, our system will not permit the same bank account being registered to more then one account at the same time.
If you have a debit card or credit card that is not already registered on PayPal, you can register it by going to the 'Profile' section on your PayPal account.
I hope this helps,
David.

I just wanted to say that this policy of one PayPal account per bank account is garbage. My wife and I have a joint checking account but separate PayPal accounts. But essentially only one of the two PayPal accounts is usable because of this dumb limitation. What's the big deal -- why can't both PP accounts link to our joint checking account? The suggestion that we open another bank account just to work around this silly rule is offensive to me. For one thing, bank accounts aren't free. But even if they were this would still be a stupid solution -- making your customer jump through hoops to compensate for your flawed policy isn't a solution.
This has to be a common situation. It surprises me that PayPal's best answer to this is "Oh well... tough *bleep*."
Not Impressed.
