Paypal users please beware of a scam Email regarding payments to Skype Inc. I have just received an Email supposedly from Paypal regarding payment for 3 months subscriptin to Skype Inc. The Email states that if you have not authorised this payment then please click on "cancel payment" button.
Please ignore this Email as I do not believe this is from Paypal as it does not state my name, ebay membership or Email address as the recipient - it simply welcomes the Paypal Client.
Also when I clicked on cancel payment it redirected me to another site which I immediately closed without entering any personal details.
Thanks Pam

Hi retailtherapist,
Welcome to the PayPal community forum.
Thank you for letting us know that you have received a spoof email. Spoof emails being received in to your email inbox or junk mail is out of PayPal's control. These emails being received can be reported to your email provider and you can request that they be blocked in the future.
We can however advise all of members how to protect themselves against these emails and what to look out for.
1.If an email is received from PayPal we will always address you using your full name or the name listed on your PayPal account.
2. We do not put links in our emails, unless it is for password recovery
3. Any information requested or any request to update information will be reflected on your PayPal account.
We also recommend that any spoof emails received to be forwarded to us at spoof@paypal.com so our specialist team can review them for us.
Thanks for posting
Paula

It was almost a relief to see that many other folk had this frightening email. I clicked on nothing and reported the mail as phishing, getting to the Paypal page via my browser.
