Payment Hold - now I don't have funds to ship!

I've received a payment for a computer monitor, PayPal is holding the funds (never heard of this before and I've sold for years on my ex boyfriends account with nothing like this) now I don't have the cash to send the item, and it seems I won't get it until 3 weeks after the item is shipped? This is the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard. Paypal must be making a fortune in interest holding everyones money for 3 weeks in their account.

Also, I was advised this could be a scam. I don't want to send the item until I've got the money in my BANK ACCOUNT.

This is not a Scam, eBay advise that your payment may be held when you list it is clearly stated.

The payment is deemed holdable by eBay and eBay tell PayPal to hold it, you have to send within 7 days in order to be eligible for seller protection. You can make a payment for the postage using your PP funds, when you do so within minutes of making the payment you are refunded the postage amount.

You risk a strike for seller non performance and a dispute if you make your buyer wait and this will go against  your account.

If you have less than 20 selling dsrs, low dsrs, or less than a 100 feedback, or even a few disputes your payments can be subject to a  hold, feedback and years on eBay is irrelevant.

Send the monitor, send signed for and hopefully your buyer will leave feedback promptly and the funds will be released.

As classy-diva pointed out, this isn’t a scam. You will be able to see the funds in a pending balance and you will be advised that you have received payment and you need to ship the item.

The hold will not last the full 21 days if your buyer leaves positive feedback or you provide a tracking number showing delivery for 3 days or more for that item to PayPal customer service.

Classy-diva, you can’t pay for postage from the pending balance anymore. It was offered before, but unfortunately is no longer available.
