Need to change email address - impact on existing site buttons?

Hi, and sorry if this is an FAQ.
I run a website for an Association which receives new memberships and subs via Paypal. When the IPN facility was set up the treasurer used his personal email address for the PP account. He has now left and we want to change the payment address to a more profession one along the lines of 'treasurer@ ....'
I have no problems with actually changing the primary address in our Paypal account, but my question is what impact doing this might have on the existing payment and subs buttons on the site?
That is, do I have to rebuild all the buttons with the new address, or is there a variable in the code that will route to the new primary address without my having to change them all? (I sure hope so!!)
Thanks, any advice would be really appreciated.
Andy

Hi Andyc57,
To be honest, I have never had a question like this before so I can try and give you as much information as possible and I can also try and get an answer for you in the mean time.
In regards to the current subscriptions that you have in place with buyers and your PayPal account. I don't think there would be too much of an issue with the subscriptions if you update the email address on your PayPal account. I am currently trying to get a definate answer on this but I don't think it would effect the current subscriptions on your account.
In regards to updating the email address for the shopping carts currently on your website. I think that if you update the email address on your PayPal account and you are enquiring about having the buttons updated on your website, you would need to do this individually for every shopping cart that you have on your website.
These are the best answers that I can give you for the moment. I will leave additional comments here for you when I get more information for you.
I hope this helps ,
David.

Hi again Andyc57,
I got you more information on this from the department that would deal with your query.
They advised me that if you are to update the email address on your PayPal account, it will not effect the current subscriptions that you have in place on your account as long as you keep the old email address active and confirmed on your PayPal account. If you wish to remove the old email address, you will need to update all the buttons for the subscriptions and also update all of the shopping cart buttons on your website.
Unfortunately, you will need to do this for every button on your website as if you don't, the payments will not be credited successfully to your PayPal account.
I hope this helps ,
David.

If you have recurring payments sent on the previous old email address you would have to cancel them and set up new recurring payments so that the new email address can be used. That would be the most professional way of doing it albeit time consuming to implement.
