Changing country or removing incorrect addresses?

Hi everyone,

There is a lot of questions lately about changing the country that your PayPal account is registered in and also getting old or incorrect addresses removed from your PayPal account.

Changing Country

Firstly, it's not possible at the moment in order for anyone to change the country that your PayPal account is registered to. If for example you are living in the UK and you have moved to a different country, you should register a new account in the country that you have moved to and if you wish, keep your UK PayPal account open if you are planning to return to the UK.

Removing Incorrect Addresses

If you can see some addresses in your PayPal account, you would need to contact customer services directly in order for us to get the incorrect addresses removed from your account. These are gift addresses that you would have sent items to in the past and they can only be removed by customer services.

I hope this answers anyones questions that you may have about moving country or getting old or incorrect address removed from your PayPal account.

Can I ask a question that has cropped up as a result of changing countries:

A client who I built a site for has just done exactly what you mention above - moved to France, set up her new Paypal account. The only problem is now when her (mostly English speaking) customers go check out then they end up faced with PayPal in French. This is putting off a high proportion of customers who are abandoning at checkout. Her prefs in PayPal are set to language 'English'.

Any ideas would be welcome.

BenBen50, if you have moved countries, you would need to use a different email address when registering your new PayPal account. You won't be able to use the email address that is currently active on your PayPal account in the UK.

Fissionc, it sounds to me that your friends issue is a bit complicated. I am not sure what exactly the issue could be. My best advice for you would be to ask your friend to go to the following website, https://ppmts.custhelp.com in order to see if they can see their question being answered here already. If not, they can submit a request and our technical team will be able to investigate it further on their behalf.

I get this message when trying to add a new account to my new address

"We were unable to verify this credit card. Please check if the information you entered is correct. Please also make sure your credit card billing address matches your PayPal street address."

You won't be able to use the email address that is currently active on your PayPal account in the UK.", is there a way to jsut deactivate the UK account?

I've got a UK account I won't need any more, and I'd like to close that and setup a new German one, but without setting up a new e-mail address. Can this be done?

I have a uk and a french paypal & e-bay account & use the same e-mail address for both. The problem is that I have one bank & card registered to the uk address & my french card registered to my address in france BUT my french address ends with " United Kingdom" & I don't seem to be able to delete this from the address.

In relation to your response on BenBen50, I was living in the UK when I set up the account and now I am living in Switzerland.  As I am often back in the UK I buy online through both Switzerland and the UK on a regular basis.  Do I therefore need two seperate accounts?  Furthermore, I do not want to use 2 different email addresses, is this possible with the same email address?

I just want to continu with paypal uk just going to live in spain for a few years   Just change my dilivery address  and keep using my english bank

I have had 2 paypal a/cs set up for a while, US & UK under different emails.  I see that UK paypal will now allow a US bank account to be added, but when I add my US checking account it tells me it's already added because it's the one I use for my US paypal account.  Why should my two separate paypal accounts not access the same bank account?   Thanks for any light you can shed.
