Problem resolving negative balance?

Hi

 

I seem to be having problems with resolving a negative balance. A payment was made to resolve it a few days ago and this has appeared, both on Paypal and on my bank statement.

 

Now 2 more payments seem to have been refused. My bank have said there is no problem there end and can't see any reason why payment from them was refused yet that is what Paypal says.

 

I am struggling to make sense of things now with these transactions flying around...

Hey there,

 

A payment can fail from your bank account for several different reasons but the most common is that the direct debit has been cancelled between PayPal and your bank account. You will need to remove your bank and re-add it to PayPal and set it up again for direct debits, however, as you have a negative balance you may not be able to do this so you might need to contact us directly and request us to remove it.

 

Once your bank has been set up again you can add funds to PayPal to clear your balance. Another option would be calling our Collections Department on 0208 6100 150 and they can take the payment from a card over the phone with you.

thank you for your advice.

 

It seems the direct debit has been stopped so I shall remove and add the account.

 

I did phone and make a payment to resolve the balance around 5:30pm yesterday. How soon do you think it should appear on my Paypal account and clear the negative balance?

Payments made over the phone to our Collections Department usually take 24 - 48 hours to show up on your account.

Thanks Wayne, that worked out. still in a bit of a loop with bank transfer/direct debit but I am just waiting for these to play themselves out!

hi, 

i have a negative balance as my bank has just taken my overdraft off and i cant deposit any funds onto paypal.

 

what i would like to know is how long could i have a negative balance before paypal blocks me and i cant use paypal????

 

 

i have searched the questions and answers and have got ur address to send a postal order which i will do monday but i dont want my paypal account closed before i can send the payment. please help.

I am also having a problem with a negative balance. I have a credit card and bank account attached to my PayPal account so I'm not understanding why/how I have a negative balance. I added funds to my account from the card that was on file so there wasn't a problem with the card and I have plenty of funds in my bank account?? I did however have a reversal a couple of days ago and read on another topic that could be a cause? Any suggestions?
