Hello, I am considering buying something from a person who accepts paypal, the amount is big $5-10k,

I am concerned, is it possible when seller recieves the money to his paypal, he withdraws the money to his bank and then closes the paypal account, and dont send me the item I purchased? Is it possible to scam like this? I m getting afraid to deal with big amounts due to this reason

If thats the case then what will happen if I file the claim?

Awaiting reply

Well firstly there is no way i would be sending that amount of money to a stranger via paypal.!!!!

If the seller empties his paypal account and you win a dispute for non receipt of item then if the seller does not refund then paypal will.

HOWEVER paypals buyer protection is not a "cover-all" and there are lots of ways you can still be scammed.

What if the seller sends you a fake? The onus is on you to prove any item that you file is "received but not as described".

A lot of items are not covered by buyer protection so you need to read up on this.

Personally no way would i spend this amount of money unless i could see the item first and collect it myself.

Thank you for the reply, the supplier wanted money through WU or Bank transfer, I told him that I will only pay through paypal because paypal is a safer payment mode.

I was only concerned about the fact that if seller closes his account and withdraws the money, will I still get the refund
