Hello, I have just signed up and tried to link my Maestro Debit card issued by ING Bank. The error message received is

Sorry, we are not able to process your request. Please try again later. The website of Paypal says that Maestro is accepted in Belgium so I am unsure why this error is creeping up. I have a payment to remit sometime in the coming week and this is the only payment access I have currently.

Would appreciate any help and insight on the matter. Thanks in advance 🙂

They are headquartered in the Netherlands, but they have branches here and more importantly, the card was issued in Belgium.

If I may add an additional question, Paypal does give me the option to add Paypal Balance using Bancontact (the local Bank Card protocol in Belgium) I am confident this would work, but will I have the option of paying with my balance only without having an account/credit card linked?

The particular transaction in question is for an Ebay bid that ends tomorrow, the seller is located in the UK, and the payment option says Paypal (Credit cards accepted through paypal) , but if it is a one time payment, I don't understand why I'd need reserve funds.

Of course, this is all assuming I don't get outbid in the next 16 hours :), but I'm the only bidder so far.

Why don't you used link your ING bank account?  PayPal would draw from that, correct?  Are you allowed to link an ING bank account in Belgium?

I've done that, but I'm assuming it will take due time for the account to get verified? I'm assuming I need to clear the payment for my ebay purchase as soon as the bidding phase ends, correcct?

You have 3 days to make payment after auction ends, but you can arrange with seller for later payment.

Didn't you verify you bank account yet?  If not, why not?

If the seller accepts credit cards then you should be able to pay directly with a credit card while loggout OUT of your PayPal account.  Since your card is not linked to PayPal; I think that should work.
