Changing primary email account, don't have my paypal debit card anymore

So here is my huge dillema: I haven't had my paypal debit card in a year or so because I tore up all of my cards when I was finally out of debt, and unfortunately I did not MEMORIZE this number, as I didn't think I needed it anymore.

Well, I didn't know I needed to enter this card number to change my primary email address on my account. Why is this even a "security measure"? I have logged into my account, with my password, and am able to send and receive money once logged in, that's cash changing hands, and I cannot change my primary email address? Really? I need to change this address and no, I don't want to wait for PayPal to send me another card. My old email address doesn't even work anymore, I cancelled my account with my old provider so it is no longer valid.

Please help!

I figured out that I don't need to change the primary one for any reason at this time, as I set up a second email account to accept the payments and all is fine with the world again, except for account alerts.

Thank you!
