scammers

I have had scammers contact me through items i would have listed on Kjiji. You can always tell they are scammers because, for one thing, they never argue about the price and also they will say, i will send a shipper to pick your item up...Now they include Paypal.

They ask if you have a Paypal account and if so they want the information, reminding you that it is safe and secure..If you don't have an account they incourage you to sign up..

Ok so you have an account and you give them the information, and they send money to your account, then somebody comes and picks up the item you are selling...

The scam is ????   The only thing i can think of is the buyer claims they did not receive the item and does a charge back... what do you think the scam would be and how Paypal is handling this scam that has them involved.

I just had the same thing happen to me. I am trying to sell all my furniture and kitchen stuff, enough to start out someone in a bachelor pad or small apartment as I have become a fulltime missionary and am trying to raise fund for my next trip and then this guy says he will buy it even without coming to look at any of it and that he will send a courier to come pick it up and has paid my asking price and the shipping costs but asks that i pay the shipping costs out of my pocket and then all the funds will be released to me. It sounded like a scam of some sort using paypal's name but wasn't sure till I read of others having the same problem. Crap, I was really looking forward to selling it but kinda knew it was too good to be true. I can't believe some people would do that to other people.

Hi all!

Same thing here in Moncton (NB). In one month of Kijiji ADS I received 9 different emails like yours.

And they are all for antiques and very valuable furniture. I'm selling them because we are downsizing, but the pieces are all  800'  european original.

For the ADS with smaller price no problem, only with the higher price!!! And it's absolutely  unbelivable that someone buys for thousands dollar without take a look on what he is buying.

I think PayPal have to alert people by mail.

Thanks

Lio

Hello I am new to the community, boy oh boy I spent all day yesterday getting scammed by my second 2 ads on kijiji..a tip to add to the "tells" of the scammer are they sometimes ask for more personal info, telephone etc, but if you Hover your cursor over the from PAYPAL Response you get that it is not the real PayPal at all.  They have found a bad Replica, so check the address that pops up.  I got a swearing Email this morning after I told the man that I  no longer wished to business with him and he wanted his "money" back from PayPal, He tried to verbally bully me into contacting PP to get them to give him a refund.  I suggested he do that himself.  They even have the confirm this is a good transaction from PayPal down, but again if you hover over the email address you will find that they fit in your scammer number systems.

I have copied all of the conversations and one funny one that a woman sent me claiming to be a Marine Engineer Engineer, (that is what it said)  and saying the same stuff but scrolling down to the bottom of the page she says in a different pasted email, that she is just a young sweet girl new to some area needing to rent a place...Young Sweet Girl needs to decide if she is old enough or educated enough to be an engineer...

Can anyone tell me please...do these people have the ability to give me bad reviews and lastly, does PP wish to have these e-mails or tags?

Thanks a lot.

Hello there. I am on the trail of a suspect I have reasons to believe to be the work of a scam artist in eBay. This suspect had purchased my item in auction but refused to pay for it. The first alarm was triggered when I read the question. Why would the suspect need my "Papal"  - note the purposely misspelling - email account to make the payment?  I suspect he is attempting to gain access to my Paypal account and use it against me. This is a form of illegal hacking where a criminal would gain access to your confidential account information and use it against you. The second alarm is this - He is making excuses for not being in the country and wanted me to ship my item to a suspicious address in West Africa. He wanted me to ship my item to a "Benjamin Godspeed" he had named as his granddaughter. This had triggered a lot of red flags. Please beware of this type of scam.

IMO PayPal and eBay need to impliment security protocols to identify and ban scammers from our attempts to make honest transactions and profits. They should be able to screen potential users and check their backgrounds with the authorities and government officials.  We know we got nothing to hide. Why should we be punished for users with these criminal intented activities?
