scammers

I have had scammers contact me through items i would have listed on Kjiji. You can always tell they are scammers because, for one thing, they never argue about the price and also they will say, i will send a shipper to pick your item up...Now they include Paypal.

They ask if you have a Paypal account and if so they want the information, reminding you that it is safe and secure..If you don't have an account they incourage you to sign up..

Ok so you have an account and you give them the information, and they send money to your account, then somebody comes and picks up the item you are selling...

The scam is ????   The only thing i can think of is the buyer claims they did not receive the item and does a charge back... what do you think the scam would be and how Paypal is handling this scam that has them involved.

I have had the same thing happen after listing on Kijiji. Always willing to pay full price, and will

have someone pick the item up as they are out of town. They say they will pay through paypal,

so I to have the same question, I would never release my item until the money was in my paypal

account, so can they just stop payment, and if so, what is paypal doing to resolve this issue?

I did hear of a lady that shipped her item, and then found out she was scammed. How about

some clarity on this issue.

Do NOT send your computer before checking with paypal. Send them the email address that this person has used to contact you, and they will verify if this person is scamming you.

it is being picked up by a private Malaysia shipping company after you have received and confirmed the total payment in your account, the shipping agent will come for the pick up at your given time, date and location and he will handle all the necessary paper work for it as i am having it shipped abroad and they have liaisons with local CA companies in every cities,so getting to you shouldn't be a problem

Thanks for the information, it was really of immense help,i am really interested in buying it and i want to go ahead with the purchase, i am pleased with the price but I can only conclude the transaction through PayPal for our own protection,PayPal act as a neutral third party. it is safe, secure and reliable.

I insisted on PayPal mode of payment because i don't have access to my bank account online as i don't have internet banking but i can pay from my PayPal account as i have my bank a/c attached to it and also due to the fact that i am currently offshore and I won't definitely be able to make it to my bank to wires money across to you.It is what safe and convenient for me.

Never allow Paypal on pickup.

Because PP requires Delivery or Signature Confirmation in case of a Dispute for an Item Not Recieved, they will refund the scammer his money.

And no a written receipt is not acceptable. It would have to be electronically viewable.

With these "my shipper will pick it up " scams, only accept cash. Not even money orders or certified cheques. And check the cash for counterfeit bills. (You can buy a blacklight for this at any stamp dealer. Lighthouse is a good brand.)

I have had a scammed contact me through items I have listed on Kjiji in the last few days. He send me an email directly to my iphone telling me to write back to his email. He told he will send someone to pick the item and to send him my papal email. I sent a request of payment but after reading your comment I canceled the request. I knew that was a scam.

I am so glad I am reading this now.  A few days ago I had the same situation.  Someone from Tazmania, Australia who seems to not know much English was wanting to buy 2 sets of tires I have for sale.  They are posted on both Kijiji as well as a local radio station web site.  Never once did he discuss what I was selling nor the price.  He said his courier agent would be picking it up.  The whole thing seemed fishy to me, especially since he continually repeats the same thing pushing me to get set up with Paypal and give him my Paypal email address.  He never answers my questions, just says the same thing over and over again.  When stating that I would like to receive the funds through Western Union he replied only repeating the whole Paypal thing.

Everyone just needs to really listen to their instincts.  Normal, legit people ask questions about what they are buying, usually like to see the item(s) and negotiate the price.  If there is no discussion about the item nor the price, then it is probably a scam.  Not sure how this moron would do it, but I don't plan on finding out.  In my situation I asked myself, why would someone pay $700 for two sets of tires when they live on the other side of the globe?  Makes no sense to me.

I am about to send him a nasty email back.  It is unfortunate that there will be some victims.  If people didn't fall for this scam these people would not be doing this.

hi there,

I had the same bad experience with a buyer( I don't know where he is exactly located, but as per his phone # he should be in Pennsylvania state ) he asked me to ship the item to his lovely girl friend in Nigeria. he insisted to pay me by Paypal. OK no problem, he told me that my account account will be immediately credited after verifying the tracking # of the shipping. I received an e-mail "from Paypal" in that way. I shipped the item, sent him the track #, but my account is not credited yet.

After reading your Posts, I figured out that I've been pranked.

Fortunately, I shipped the package at the post office late on Friday, I was the first one at the post office early in the morning on Monday. Thanks God the package is still there, it has not been picked up yet. so I get back my package and shipement fees.

So be careful and think twice.

Just for your Information and take care of this guy:

Name: Davis Grey

Thank you All

I just got something like that too. after posting an RV on Kijiji.ca 2am toronto time. i get a sms within 10min saying he want to buy it. and saying will even pay me 500 more if I sell to him on email after. He ask if i have a paypal account if not please open one and he will pay me over paypal then send over an agent to pick it up. all paper work will be sign and deal with the pickup agent. when I ask I only take cash, certified cheque or bank draft the he reply me with "But how i wish to come and view it or send my agent by cash but am out of state now....i am a marine engineer sealing,am in a ship right now at Bermuda"

so my question is. is that a Scammer? I'm just a first time seller on kijiji.ca and the guy did text my sms first then reply my e-mail with a first name last name ## yaoo.com account
