I just had a customer who sent a dispute saying unauthorized transaction. Today is March 16, 2018 the transaction took place on Jan 7, 2018. The item he paid for was received months ago...via the Ebay Global shipping program. Paypal has access to all the tracking yet said they need me to enter the tracking information...go figure. More importantly, I was placed on hold 3 times this morning (transfer to "fraud specialist") and never had a pick-up after waiting for 1 hour the last time. Just wanted to understand why I had funds placed on hold for an unauthorized transaction...which I thought Paypal and Ebay take care of when members sign up and are screened....right? I do not authorized peoples bank account to receive and send money to Paypal....Paypal does!
Makes no sense why my funds are on hold for this.

An unauthorised transaction means that an account holders Paypal account was hacked and used without their consent by your ?buyer.
If Paypal check IP addresses etc and find in favour of the account holder then of course they are reimbursed.
However you would not lose out either as long as you met ALL the requirements of seller protection, so your best bet is to go and read up on it to make sure you were covered.

Even if the buyers Paypal account was used unauthorized (which an Ebay seller, me, has NOTHING to do with), someone still bought the item on Ebay with the buyers Ebay user ID.
Was the Ebay account hacked also?....item was delivered 2 months ago?
No matter how one looks at it, Paypal should not withhold Ebay seller funds in this instance...as the problem (if any) is between the seller and Paypal!

Which is why you would be fine as long you met the criteria of seller protection.
